The SHIKHA project funded by the European Union (EU) under the Social Compliance Programme aims to strengthen prevention and response to all forms of gender-based violence (GBV) in the public and workplaces in Bangladesh through legislative change and effective enforcement, strengthening systems, and addressing harmful social norms and gender stereotypes. The project will work in Dhaka, Gazipur, Chattogram, Barisal, Narayanganj, and Rajshahi districts in 250 workplaces, 270 educational institutions, public places, digital platforms, and with the Government of Bangladesh.

The Project Officer is responsible for implementing Upazila level project activities of SHIKHA project: Creating public and private spaces free from gender-based violence, bullying and sexual harassment through strengthening prevention and response mechanisms.

Major Responsibilities:

• Organizes, plans, and ensures timely and quality implementation of activities according to the activity plan.

• Conducts awareness sessions on GBV and sexual harassment with various target groups.

• Assists in organizing meetings for baseline, end-line, and assessment surveys related to GBV protection.

• Collects data for service mapping and ensures periodic updates for survivors of violence.

• Facilitates the formation of Sexual Harassment Redress Committees (SHRC) at educational institutions.

• Conducts follow-up meetings with students, teachers, parents, and educational institution

• governing bodies on sexual harassment and cyber violence prevention.

• Ensures immediate reporting of GBV incidents and coordinates case management support.

• Liaises and coordinates with stakeholders at the upazila level, including government officials,

• community leaders, school management committees, teachers, NGOs/CSOs, and RMG management.

• Conducts orientation and awareness sessions for school management on GBV and sexual harassment.

• Prepares monthly MIS reports and ensures proper documentation is maintained at the project office.

• Maintains communication with the Technical Manager for smooth coordination and implementation of activities.

• Follows up on project activities to ensure the quality of interventions.

Safeguarding Responsibilities:

• Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.

• Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action. 

• Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
