Job Context:

∎ Cordaid will be implementing the project to enhance the livelihood of the waste actors by strengthening the value chain to increase collection of plastic waste by improving waste governance in land and water bodies in Dhaka North and Narayanganj. The expected outcome of the project is to improve the plastic waste management process in Dhaka North City Corporation and Narayanganj City Corporation through capacitating the formal and informal plastic waste actors, local service providers in close collaboration with the City Corporations, civil society organizations and private sector. The collaboration will lead to at source segregation of plastic waste in the targeted clusters ensuring recovery of unsoiled plastic for increased income and livelihood opportunities. At the same time, the project will focus on removing plastic waste from the land and water to reduce water clogging, increase collection volume of plastic waste and build capacity of the waste actors (collectors and aggregators) and link them with the recycling company.
∎ The Project Manager will be responsible to implement the project with close coordination of city corporation, waste processors, waste collectors, aggregators and association to supply the PET bottles to the reclining companies. The Project Manager will be also responsible to generate high quality report and close coordination with donors, stakeholders, and high official at Cordaid global and country level collogues.
∎ Working Conditions:
∎ Working days from Sunday to Thursday with 40 hours per week. This position may be required to work some overtime hours to attend meetings such as the Annual Audit.
∎ Frequently field visit and closely work with city corporation, recycling companies, waste aggregators , waste collectors, volunteers, etc.
∎ Any other tasks assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
∎ Yearly renewable the contract based on fund availability and performance.
∎ Have to follow CORDAID HR, Admin and Finance related policy.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Strengthen plastic waste collection mechanisms for removing plastic waste from the ecosystem.
∎ Facilitate regular meetings between stakeholders.
∎ Strengthen waste governance committees and associations.
∎ Organize capacity building initiatives for City Corporation staff
∎ Engage private sector organizations for source segregation.
∎ Strengthen supply chain of plastic waste from waste aggregators to recyclers.
∎ Establish relationship with the stakeholders such as city corporation, waste processing companies, local elite, waste collectors, for waste aggregators/bhangari
∎ Develop Waste Management Standard Operating Procedure
∎ Ensure capacity building of the waste collectors, aggregators and association
∎ Arrange staff and volunteer training on project implementation strategy
∎ Ensure timely collection of PET bottles/plastic and processing training for waste aggregators/ bhangari
∎ Develop and disseminate communications materials (advertisements, posters/stickers, audio-visuals, etc.) through print and electronic media (including social media)
∎ Conduct campaign to raise mass awareness to dispose of plastic waste and PET bottles separately
∎ Establish Real-time Tracking System of plastic waste and PET bottles (Volume) collection
∎ Conduct performance evaluation of the project
∎ Develop a position paper for lobbying and advocacy
∎ Arrange learning dissemination workshop to share project results as lobby and advocacy initiative to sensitize the stakeholders specifically the city corporation
∎ Strengthen association for the informal waste collectors (Bhangari, waste picker, hawker)
∎ Supervise the project associate, volunteers and their capacity building through training, orientation, coaching, meeting, etc.
∎ Regularly monitoring the progress of PET bottle collection and supply to the companies.
∎ Establish networking relationships with the public-private sectors and other partner organizations
Additional Requirements:
∎ 5+ years of experience in project management cycle for development project specifically urban areas in Bangladesh
∎ Experience in waste management and plastic recycling companies will be preferred.
∎ Experience on enterprise promotion, circular economy, startups and working with the private sector will be preferred will be an added advantage
∎ Skill in ICT/digital technology related knowledge to collect real-time or online data collection from the field.
∎ Excellent in rapport building skill with the stakeholders.
∎ Good in training facilitation and capacity building of the team members and beneficiaries.
∎ Experience in coordination with government, City Corporation
∎ Skill in tracking and monitoring the progress and update to the management and donors in regular basis.
∎ Excellent interpersonal communication skill, problem solving skills and strong value-based commitment.
