Background
Bangladesh Nari Progati Sangha (BNPS) is a national women’s rights organization working since 1986 to promote gender equality, social justice, and women’s empowerment.
Project 1: Women Peacebuilders for Social Cohesion
Under the UN Women supported project “Strengthening the leadership of Rohingya and host community women peacebuilders to advance social cohesion and gender-responsive protection in Cox’s Bazar,” BNPS supports 220 women peacebuilders across 11 Women Peacebuilding Groups (WPGs) in nine Rohingya camps and two host communities to advance conflict prevention, mediation, social cohesion, and gender-responsive protection in Cox's Bazar. Key activities include comprehensive capacity building on leadership, peacebuilding, mediation, paralegal support, and security risk management; establishing community-based early warning systems; facilitating intergenerational and intercommunity dialogue for trust building and conflict prevention; and generating evidence to inform the next National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security in Bangladesh. The project empowers women as agents of peace while fostering gender-equitable norms and strengthening community resilience in both refugee and host community contexts.
Project 2: Climate Security and Women's Resilience
BNPS is also expected to implement an upcoming UN Women-supported Climate Security initiative focused on strengthening the resilience of women peacebuilders and community women through disaster risk reduction (DRR) and climate-responsive programming. This initiative, currently under development, will build on the WPG project infrastructure and target overlapping communities to deliver DRR training, climate-responsive early warning integration, and women-led preparedness planning. The Project Coordinator will be expected to oversee both projects, ensuring programmatic coherence and efficient use of shared resources.
Job Summary
The Project Coordinator will be responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising, and monitoring all WPG project activities in camps and host communities, and for leading the start-up and implementation of the Climate Security initiative as it becomes operational. She will ensure delivery of outputs and results, manage the project team, maintain donor compliance (UN Women), liaise with stakeholders, and ensure quality assurance, safety, and safeguarding standards throughout implementation.
The position requires strong leadership, field coordination skills, gender and protection expertise, and experience in humanitarian programming in Cox’s Bazar.
