Educational Requirements:
∎ Masters in Development Studies/ Disaster Management/ Natural Sciences/ Social Science/ Environmental Science/ Climate Change Adaptation or any other relevant subject from any recognised university/ institutions with minimum second class/ division or equivalent GPA/ CGPA in all academic examinations

∎ At least 10 year(s)

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Mainstreaming Urban Disaster risk reduction (DRR), Environment and Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) in Urban Development Programme (UDP) by providing clear communication with proper understanding of UDP’s Urban Strategy, Environment Policy etc.
∎ Assess the existing global, regional and national climate change adaptation practices in the target cities; assess to what extent these practices (including the livelihood support provided by BRAC) take into account future climate change scenarios such as a water logging, excessive/ erratic rainfall, landslides, river erosion etc.
∎ Guide the team to ensure that urban disaster risk reduction and urban resilience are incorporated in the development of UDP’s strategic and programmatic documents
∎ Explore options and contribute in the designing and planning of implementing actions to promote climate resilient solutions under the programme
∎ Build knowledge of organisation level, civil society, communities and volunteers, as well as the private sector, through sharing experiences, lessons learned, good practices and training and education on DRR, Environment and CCA including the use of existing training and education mechanisms and peer learning.
∎ Provide clarity on the climate data and indicators-in terms of its source, analysis, regular update and defining certain criteria-in relation to UDP’s climate outcome and output indicators
∎ Design and organise workshop for the people living in urban poverty on creative ideas of climate resilient initiative in urban context. Create climate resilience collaborative tools to facilitate sharing of ideas that are of use to colleagues and other programmes. disseminate UDP’s urban resilient best practices through workshop, seminar, conference, print media, etc.
∎ Collaborate with programme development team to explore and identify fund raising opportunities including call for proposals (CFP/RFP) and submission of EOIs, etc. from different bilateral and multilateral donors, other funding organisations, corporations and ensure timely response by preparing and submitting concept note/ proposal and budget. Search new funding opportunities, innovative interventions on Urban DRR and CCA. Involve in grants making, networking, implementation, publication initiative for programme development and sustainability.
∎ Collaboration with city/ municipality authority, different ministries and departments, academia for research, joint action planning and joint implementation the Urban DRR, Environment and CCA issues
∎ Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme’s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
∎ Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
∎ Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so

Additional Requirements:
∎ Minimum 10 years experience with NGOs/ UN agency or international development organisation, including 5 years’ experience in the area of DRR, Environment and Climate Change Adaptation
∎ Prior knowledge on climate change science, adaptation, mitigation and DRR
∎ Proficient in using computers with related knowledge of software programs, and Internet
∎ Sound understanding of the organisation's overall mission, climate change strategy and its objectives
∎ Knowledge on fund & resource mobilisation
∎ Good communication skills including ability to gain trust and build relationships with new communities.
∎ A logical approach and the ability to be creative in a high-pressure situation
∎ A flexible attitude, with the ability to manage a range of tasks at the same time
∎ Excellent planning and organizational skills
∎ Good computer skills including Microsoft Word and excel
∎ Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently
