∎ JOB PURPOSE: The Programme Policy Officer (Protection) has the responsibility of integrating protection and inclusion principles into ongoing program activities as part of the Country Strategic Plan (CSP). This involves providing technical support, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with protection standards and risk assessments. The Programme Policy Officer (Protection) will focus on staff capacity building, inclusive targeting, safe distributions, accountability, and monitoring. Collaboration with various teams is crucial, and the role reports to the Head of the Area Office in Cox`s Bazar. Regular travel to programme areas is also required to provide support to policy and programme activities that effectively meet food assistance needs.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
∎ Contribute towards the development of the annual Protection and Inclusion plan, ensuring alignment with WFP programmes and in accordance with the relevant WFP policies.
∎ Provide technical support to ensure that protection issues are adequately identified, analysed and integrated through the Programme cycle and functional areas including M&E, complaints and feedback mechanisms, and reporting systems.
∎ Ensure respect of rigorous protection and data protection quality standards during primary data collection exercises, including needs assessments, protection risk assessments, community engagement, monitoring, etc.
∎ Contribute to the preparation of accurate and timely reporting on programmes and activities that enable informed decision-making and consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
∎ Liaise with internal and external counterparts, especially protection actors, to ensure effective collaboration on assessments of current and emerging protection issues, capacity development, referral procedures and pathways and explore strategic partnerships.
∎ As requested by the supervisor, represent WFP in relevant inter-agency coordination for a, such as the Protection Sector and related working groups.Support to identification and response to the issues relating to WFPs' targeting, registration of beneficiaries, delivering assistance, and consolidation of the understanding of the Protection Policy and its operational impact through discussions with partners and other stakeholders.
∎ Support the capacity strengthening of WFP staff, cooperating partners, and national government officials by identifying the needs, ensuring proper planning, developing required resources, and facilitating trainings and other capacity strengthening initiatives.
∎ Provide guidance to support staff, acting as a point of referral and assisting them with analysis and queries.
∎ Other responsibilities as required by the needs of the Office.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Language: Fluency (level C) in English language.
∎ At least 5 years of solid and responsible work experience with humanitarian or development sector; a minimum of 3 years of professional working experience in protection, human rights, gender-based violence.
