Job Purpose:
The Programme Organiser (PO) will help strengthen BRAC’s work at the grassroots level by mobilising marginalised communities through the formation and support of Village Development Organisations (VDOs), Village Organisations (VOs), and Development Support Groups (DSGs). The PO will empower women and disadvantaged groups to take part in household and community decisions and help communities improve access to essential services in education, health, and WASH.
Key Responsibilities:
Mobilise poor and ultra-poor households through VDOs, facilitate regular meetings, raise awareness on rights, and support community problem-solving.
Plan and initiate field trainings, workshops, day observations, and community events.
Support maternal health services by monitoring Shastho Kendra (SK) and Shastho Shebika (SS), assisting with birth planning, postnatal care (PNC), and incentives.
Establish and manage BPS/BPPS schools following BRAC Education Programme standards.
Identify ultra-poor households, provide training, facilitate asset/soft loan support, and conduct home visits.
Facilitate Legal Aid services and engage communities through Popular Theatre and CD shows.
Promote agriculture, alternative livelihoods, crop diversification, and vaccination camps.
Supervise local service providers to ensure effective service delivery.
Raise awareness on climate adaptation, WASH, and support communities during disasters.
Prepare and submit monthly reports, case studies, and updates on programme progress.
Conduct orientation sessions for participants on home-based, nutrition-sensitive food production techniques to support sustainable income-generating opportunities.
Actively enroll selected learners and Master Craft Persons (MCPs) to monitor and ensure participants successfully acquire and develop skills for their chosen trade.
Establish and maintain linkages between participants and BRAC Microfinance, as well as relevant government and non-government extension services, to support their economic activities and growth.
Safeguarding Responsibilities:
Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
Additional Responsibilities:
Knowledge of poverty, livelihoods and social issues
Ability to use MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
Communicate effectively in Bangla and English.
Willingness to conduct frequent field visits to remote and hard-to-reach areas;
Must have the mindset and motivation to work in challenging field environments with marginalised communities.
