Job Context:
∎ The Programme Officer- Food Supply Chain in a team approach will develop and execute the Nutrition interventions and food diversification in the field. The incumbent will be responsible for facilitating increased consumption of diversified food and reduction of malnutrition among farming households in the project area. In addition, s/he will promote the agenda of food safety within the market actors and wider community. SaFaL nutrition intervention focuses to improve the capacity and skills of project beneficiaries around practicing optimum consumptions of nutrient rich diets, following key behaviours around health and nutrition like personal hygiene and sanitation, infant and young child feeding. Behavioural change communication is one of the key approaches which is being carried out through the publication of information, education and communication (IEC) materials, organizing community level events and household counselling. SaFaL is implementing SRHR programme targeting adolescents. The SRHR strategy would largely focus on mobilizing adolescent and early married girls and make them aware on sexual reproductive health rights (SRHR) and nutrition so that they could have a healthy and productive life. Knowledge and awareness building efforts would be made to sensitize men, in-laws, and civil society members on sexual and reproductive health and rights. The position will be responsible for developing leadership capacities of the adolescent girls for creating scope and opportunities for livelihood options. In addition, s/he - will be responsible for the coordinating implementation of program deliverables at Community level to achieve the project`s nutrition intervention focuses in all aspect.
∎ The position will be based in Noakhali and will report technically to the Nutrition Specialist and operationally to the Programme Manager and maintain close coordination with other team members.
∎ Employment Type:Project based fixed term
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Coordinate and facilitate implementation of program deliverables at community level under the direct supervision of Nutrition Specialist.
∎ Responsible for ongoing program activities at the designated field site.
∎ Design and roll out context-specific responsible production, food safety and nutrition awareness campaigns to enhance local awareness level
∎ Participate in the assessment, monitoring and evaluation of nutrition projects, including nutrition surveys, selective feeding programs, and nutrition education at respective sites.
∎ Develop and maintain excellent relationships with partners, local organizations, food processors and community groups.
∎ Under the guidance of the Nutrition Specialist and Nutrition officer will provide ongoing assistance, capacity building and training for partners and community groups.
∎ Facilitate program implementation by partners and community groups and linkages with other service facilities at upazila, union's level.
∎ Oversee the identification, development, or acquisition of appropriate resources to support technical components of the program including written translation of materials.
∎ Provide information for analysis and reporting.
∎ Document lessons learned, and support for learning and advocacy.
∎ Provide technical input/support to effectively implement the of research and advocacy agenda
∎ Establish network with different stockholders particularly with Partners, GoB officials i.e. Ministry of Health and Family Planning (MOH&FW), agriculture departments and other research organizations
∎ Organize and facilitate training of community nutrition volunteers and adolescents' boys and girls on Nutrition, SRHR and other relevant issues.
Additional Requirements:
∎ A minimum of 4 to 6 years' professional experience in the field of Nutrition and behavioral change of food and nutrition security, livelihood projects.
∎ Sound understanding on food market system and food safety context of Bangladesh
∎ Experiences in working agriculture value chain, agri-business development and supply chain development programmes would be added value
∎ Ability to design, review and establish Nutrition framework
∎ Organized and able to manage own time under guidance and direction from line-manager;
∎ Excellent proficiency in English language;
∎ Proven skill in analysis of data and narrative report writing.
∎ Person Specifications & Attributes:
∎ Must ensure effective team alignment and coordination between operational and support functions to ensure overall performance;
∎ Ability to work in a team;
∎ Proven ability to work in an intercultural environment
∎ Effective and efficient communication skills.
