∎ The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is a membership Union uniquely composed of both government and civil society organisations. It provides public, private and non-governmental organisations with the knowledge and tools that enable human progress, economic development, and nature conservation to take place together.
∎ IUCN Bangladesh Office is implementing a project entitled "Conserving Critically Endangered White-rumped Vultures in Bangladesh" funded by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) . The aim of this project would be to use Global Positioning System (GPS) satellite tags on WRVs to understand the causes of mortality and identify hotspots for feeding/breeding/roosting. Alongside this work, IUCN Bangladesh would also conduct country-wide undercover pharmacy surveys to assess the current status of NSAIDs in the market, and with community-based Vulture Conservation Teams conduct nest monitoring and awareness campaigns in vulture hotspots to reduce use of toxic drugs. To assist project implementation, IUCN Bangladesh is seeking competent individuals to apply for the following position.
∎ Programme Assistant - Conserving Critically Endangered White-rumped Vultures in Bangladesh
∎ Under the direct supervision of Programme Manager, Speies and Habitats, the Programme Assistant will work with the project team and all stakeholders, support the project manager in successfully conducting the project activities as well as assist the project manager in completing other managerial duties, making sure that the project deliverables are submitted timely and correctly.
