Responsibilities & Context:

Key responsibilities include:

1. Maintenance and Repair Management

  • Preventative Maintenance (PPM): Develop, schedule, and execute comprehensive preventative maintenance plans to extend asset life and prevent breakdowns.

  • Corrective Maintenance: Perform and supervise complex repairs and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems on heavy machinery (cranes, earthmovers, etc.).

  • Workshop Operations: Manage the day-to-day operations of the workshop, ensuring a clean, safe, and efficient working environment.

  • Diagnostic Activities: Utilize diagnostic tools to identify faults, perform root cause analysis, and rectify defects.

2. Operations and Logistics

  • Equipment Deployment: Plan and coordinate the allocation of machinery and vehicles to project sites to optimize utilization.

  • Spare Parts Management: Identify, order, and manage inventory of spare parts to ensure minimal downtime during repairs.

  • Third-Party Coordination: Liaise with dealers, external workshops, and third-party inspectors for specialized repairs and mandatory certifications.

3. Safety and Compliance

  • Safety Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with Health & Safety regulations, including Lockout/Tagout procedures.

  • Inspection and Documentation: Carry out safety inspections and maintain detailed records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections for the entire fleet.

  • Risk Management: Monitor equipment to identify potential safety hazards or faulty machinery, removing them from service if necessary.

4. Leadership and Administration

  • Mentorship: Train, mentor, and assess junior technicians and apprentices.

  • Reporting: Generate daily/monthly reports on equipment status, fuel consumption, and maintenance costs for management.

  • Budgeting: Assist in controlling maintenance costs and managing operating budgets for the fleet
