Responsibilities & Context:

Job Purpose

We are seeking a proactive and strategic individual to join us as Policy Specialist under Advocacy for Social Change department. The role supports BRAC’s policy advocacy initiatives by building and strengthening strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, aligned with organizational goals. It involves contributing to the development of policy briefs, providing policy advice, and supporting advocacy priorities as required by the policy advocacy team to inform engagement strategies and strengthen institutional positioning. The position also contributes to the advancement of evidence-based policy recommendations and strategic advocacy outputs, effectively supporting BRAC’s national and global advocacy efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guide Policy Analysts by setting clear expectations, reviewing deliverables, and providing continuous feedback to ensure quality and timely execution of policy advocacy work, while fostering professional development and accountability.

  • Undertake and drive policy initiatives on emerging agendas by collaborating with internal policy teams, aligning initiatives with BRAC’s strategic advocacy priorities, and advancing organizational policy objectives.

  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis by synthesizing data, evidence, and global best practices to develop high-quality analytical policy briefs, policy briefings, and knowledge materials that support organizational priorities and Advocacy Steering Committee (ASC) discussions and decisions.

  • Strengthen strategic advocacy outputs by generating research insights and collaborating with the Knowledge Management Unit and relevant stakeholders to ensure content is evidence-driven, impactful, and aligned with advocacy goals.

  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships by engaging with Government of Bangladesh (GoB) officials, policymakers, development partners, think tanks, and academia, while designing and coordinating national and international advocacy events to effectively position BRAC’s advocacy agenda.

SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure the safety of programme participants, individuals who come into contact with the organization, and team members by protecting them from harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, and exploitation, including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA), in line with safeguarding standards and programme objectives. Act as a key source of support, guidance, and expertise on safeguarding to help maintain a safe and respectful working environment.

  • Practice, promote, and uphold the organization’s safeguarding policies among team members, ensuring the consistent application of safeguarding standards in all activities and operations.

  • Follow the established safeguarding reporting procedures in the event of any reportable incident and encourage team members to adhere to the same reporting protocols.
