Responsibilities & Context:
- Conduct time study for knitting, linking, trimming, mending, washing, finishing, and packing operations.
- Develop accurate SMV/SAM for new styles and update them during bulk production.
- Validate style complexity and set standard production targets.
- Analyze machine and manpower capacity for each department.
- Help prepare daily/weekly capacity plans based on order quantity and shipment schedule.
- Coordinate with Planning, Merchandising, and Production teams for smooth execution.
- Balance linking, trimming, and finishing lines to eliminate bottlenecks.
- Ensure optimal operator allocation based on skill and style requirement.
- Minimize idle time and enhance operator and line efficiency.
- Develop improved work methods to reduce motion, fatigue, and process time.
- Prepare machine layout and manpower layout for new styles and bulk production.
- Implement Lean tools like 5S, Kaizen, and waste reduction initiatives.
- Monitor hourly/daily production and compare with set targets.
- Calculate line/section efficiency and identify reasons for low performance.
- Prepare daily efficiency, output, loss time, and WIP reports.
- Maintain balanced WIP to avoid starvation or congestion in any section.
- Support planning team with real-time production visibility.
- Maintain skill inventory of operators for sweater operations.
- Identify skill gaps and suggest training for multi-skilling or skill upgrading.
- Support operator performance evaluation and improvement.
- Analyze cost drivers (labor cost, machine utilization, rework rate).
- Implement productivity and cost-saving projects through method changes and process improvements.
- Reduce rework, wastage, and unnecessary handling.
- Ensure all IE practices comply with quality standards for sweater production.
- Estimate machine needs, manpower, layout, and SMV.
- Provide IE support during pilot runs for new styles.
