Minimum 03 years of relevant work experience in hospital/clinical settings.
Prior experience with IMCI, maternal and newborn care, or primary/secondary health care is an asset.
Familiarity with humanitarian health interventions and Rohingya refugee response is strongly preferred.

Strong knowledge of clinical and nursing care protocols, including emergency response, maternal and newborn care, and child health.
Ability to work effectively in a busy, multidisciplinary team and manage competing priorities.
Basic proficiency in data recording, reporting and use of health information systems (HIS).

Responsibilities & Context: Duty Station: Mother & Child Hospital (MCH), Camp 21, Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar
Purpose of the Position
The Nurse will provide comprehensive, patient-centred nursing care across OPD, IPD, maternity, newborn and pre-/post-operative areas in a 24/7 Mother and Child Hospital (MCH) that delivers Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (CEmOC) for Rohingya and host communities in Camp 21.
The role focused on:
- Ensuring safe, evidence-based nursing care in line with the national Minimum Package of Essential Health Services (MP-EHS), EmONC standards and WHO/GoB clinical guidelines.
- Supporting early identification, stabilization and referral of maternal, newborn, child, communicable and non-communicable conditions in a high-volume humanitarian setting.
- Providing respectful, gender-sensitive, and inclusive care, paying special attention to pregnant and postpartum women, newborns, under-five children, adolescents, and persons with disabilities, aligned with Health Sector / ISCG priorities for the Rohingya response and adjacent host community.
Clinical Service Delivery (OPD, IPD, Child Health)
- Perform triage and vital sign assessment for all incoming patients, prioritizing emergencies and children under five according to established protocols.
- Apply IMCI and relevant protocols to assess, classify, treat and refer children with common illnesses (fever, diarrhoea, pneumonia, malnutrition, danger signs).
- Administer oral, intramuscular, and intravenous medications as per prescription for both communicable and non-communicable diseases (e.g. hypertension, diabetes).
- Provide postnatal nursing care for mothers (e.g., monitoring bleeding, uterine contraction, wound condition, vital signs, pain, breastfeeding) and identify danger signs for early intervention.
- Provide nursing care for IPD patients, including monitoring vital signs, fluid balance, pain, nutrition and treatment adherence.
- Support emergency and observation areas (e.g. nebulization, IV cannulation, dehydration management via ORT/IV, oxygen therapy) and promptly alert Medical Officers for deteriorating patients.
- Assist in minor procedures and wound care, ensuring clean, safe and comfortable dressing in line with IPC standards.
- Collaborate with other disciplines (Medical Officers, Medical Assistants, Midwives, Nutrition, Lab, Pharmacy) to ensure coordinated, efficient care.
Pre-operative, Post-operative and OT-linked Nursing Care
- Prepare patients for surgery (verification checks, consent completed by clinician, fasting status, allergy history) and ensure safe transfer to OT.
- Provide post-operative nursing care (monitor vital signs, pain, bleeding, wound, fluids, urine output, early mobilization) and report any complications immediately.
- Support OT and recovery room teams (within nursing scope) in maintaining readiness, basic monitoring and safe handover of patients back to IPD wards.
Infection Prevention, Safety and Waste Management
- Implement standard IPC practices at all times: hand hygiene, appropriate PPE, safe injection practices, aseptic technique, and isolation precautions where necessary.
- Support preparation and use of disinfectant solutions, proper segregation and disposal of medical waste as per GoB and sectoral guidelines.
- Promote and maintain clean, safe and functional clinical areas, including OPD rooms, wards, labour room, procedure areas and nursing stations.
Referral and Continuity of Care
- Recognize danger signs in mothers, newborns and other patients, initiate basic stabilization, and follow standard referral pathways within the facility and to higher-level hospitals.
- Escort critical patients when needed (e.g. to OT, referral facility) and ensure clear handover using referral forms and verbal communication.
- Educate and counsel patients and caregivers on home care, medication adherence, follow-up visits and danger signs, to improve referral compliance and treatment outcomes.
Health Promotion and Patient Engagement
- Provide bedside and group health education on nutrition, hygiene, immunization and NCD management in coordination with CHWs and outreach teams.
- Use and explain IEC/BCC materials in waiting areas and wards; participate in facility-based awareness or special day observation activities (e.g. World Breastfeeding Week, World Pneumonia Day).
- Build trustful communication with patients and caregivers, ensuring respect, empathy and non-discrimination.
Record Keeping, Reporting and Supplies
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate patient records, nursing notes, partographs, IMCI forms, maternity, IPD/OPD and drug administration registers.
- Support timely completion of daily reporting formats, tally sheets, inventory checklists and contribute to monthly service statistics for the components/facility.
- Check and maintain stock levels of medicines, consumables and equipment at nursing stations (including emergency trolleys), and report shortages to the Pharmacy/Logistics.
- Ensure proper handover at shift changes, including patient status, ongoing treatments, pending investigations and any critical concerns.
Capacity Building and Quality Improvement
- Participate in clinical meetings, case discussions, MPEHS, MPDSR/MPMSR reviews, and morbidity/mortality meetings, contributing to the identification of gaps and solutions.
- Attend trainings and refreshers (IMCI, EmONC, IPC, GBV/CMR, NCDs, outbreak response, etc.) organized by PHD, SCI, GoB, WHO or partners and apply learning in practice.
- Provide informal peer support and mentoring to junior or newly recruited staff to promote consistent standards of care.
Safeguarding, Protection and Humanitarian Responsibilities
- Uphold organizational policies on Child Safeguarding, PSEA and Code of Conduct, and immediately report any concerns or suspected violations through established channels.
- Ensure all services are delivered in a safe, confidential and survivor-centered manner, particularly for women, children, adolescents and persons with disabilities.
- Be prepared to adjust duties and working hours as required in case of outbreaks, natural disasters, security incidents or other emergencies in Cox’s Bazar.
Others
- Perform any other tasks within the scope of nursing practice assigned by the Senior Staff Nurse, Medical Officer, or Project Coordinator to support the smooth functioning of the MCH.
Job Other Benifits: Monthly Gross Salary: BDT 55,000 /= (Only)
Bonus and other benefits: 10% of the monthly gross salary.
