Job Context:
∎ HI has been working in Bangladesh since 1997, with a focus on creating sustainable changes in terms of ensuring the rights and inclusion of people with disabilities in society. HI is an independent and impartial aid organization working in situations of poverty, exclusion, conflict, and disaster throughout Bangladesh. With projects in different districts of the country, HI works not only with people with disabilities and other vulnerable populations, but also with their families, their communities, and local humanitarian actors in order to respond to their essential needs, improve their living conditions, promote respect for their dignity and fundamental rights, and provide sustainability in its action. As one of the key organizations in the disability sector, HI has a wide range of projects which assist to promote the inclusion of persons with disabilities and their issues in emergency and development contexts, build capacities of local stakeholders, and reduce the impact of natural and human-made disasters. Particularly in Cox`s Bazar district, HI is providing services in rehabilitation, MH/PSS, SRH, protection and inclusive education with an inclusion mainstreaming approach to refugees and host population affected by the forcibly displaced undocumented Myanmar nationals. HI`s multi-sectoral mobile units (MU) and static approach are currently working in 15 camps located in both Teknaf and Ukhiya Upazilas and surrounding host areas providing comprehensive services in physical rehabilitation, primary health care, protection, and MH/PSS.
∎ HI is currently implementing development and humanitarian response project in Kurigram, Sitakindu, and Cox`s Bazar district through 4 project offices (Kurigram, Sitakundu, Ukhiya, and Teknaf) and 2 coordination offices( Dhaka and Cox Bazar).
∎ Operational Thematic: Livelihood, Health and Rehabilitation, Protection, Inclusion, Education and Atlas Logistic
∎ Number of staffs: Around 292 National staff and 08 international staff
∎ HI is currently looking for a Nurse (Maternity Cover) to provide health screening, basic wound care, health promotion, SRH services, and ensure necessary referrals to health centers for the Rohingya community in Cox`s Bazar District, Bangladesh, 2021-2022" project funded by BPRM-Mobile Unit.
∎ Job Location: Ukhia
∎ Line Manager: Team Manager
∎ Type of Contract: Fixed-term
∎ Duration of the Contract: As early as possible to 28 February 2022.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Objective-1: Identification of beneficiaries
∎ Contribute to the identification of persons with medical needs through the house to house visits;
∎ Medical screening of beneficiaries, including checking vital signs;
∎ Assessment of the main medical needs of the person;
∎ Guide volunteers, during identification/mobilization exercise.
∎ Guide volunteers during SRH awareness session
∎ Objective-2: Nursing care
∎ Provide wound care for minor wounds and bedsores, care for skin infections, dressing for burns and fractures, management of initial stages of acute watery diarrhoea.
∎ Provide follow-up care, as necessary;
∎ Provide health promotion messages, including advice to pregnant women and hygiene promotion;
∎ Assist the patients in understanding their condition, recommendation as well as teaching patient, friends, and family to understand self-care skills; answering questions;
∎ Update beneficiary files on the service provided in close consultation with other mobile unit team members.
∎ Objective-3: Sexual and Reproductive Health
∎ Provide a rationale for decisions that affect care and enable to make informed choices about their sexuality and sexual and reproductive health and family planning;
∎ Provide quality maternal and newborn health services including maternal health care counseling on three broad aspect such as general counseling, birth planning counseling and advice on after delivery;
∎ Maintain records of SRH & Family Planning related materials and statistics as required;
∎ Supervise community awareness activity and ensure that appropriate messaging are delivered to the community by SRH community health workers (sexual and reproductive health and rights and HIV, and incidence of violence against women and early marriage to reducing the vulnerability of women, among family and community members, including young people);
∎ Supervise community health workers, and provide continuous mentorship to ensure the quality of their services provided;
∎ Support in awareness-raising of community leaders, his on SRHR specific topics.
∎ Objective-4: Referral and Follow-up
∎ Support the Team Manager in mapping the existing health services in the area of intervention;
∎ Ensure internal/external referrals and follow-up, gathering feedback on service provided for docu-mentation with a strong link with health center and ambulance provided in the respective camps for easy referral of cases;
∎ Communicate and link with other members of the mobile team, regarding internal referrals (PSS, protection, rehabilitation, and social workers), ensuring a comprehensive approach;
∎ Support in the development of IEC material as the project needs;
∎ Be responsible and accountable for the patient care, providing health support services to the beneficiaries/patients referred to the selected secondary and tertiary health facilities;
∎ Proper documentation and reporting as required by HI.
∎ Objective-5: Conduct
∎ Demonstrate an ethic and professional practice;
∎ Respect beneficiary confidentiality;
∎ Complies with all health and safety procedures to ensure their own safety and the safety of others in the workplace;
∎ Respect and promote HI's Policies and report to your line manager any non-respect of HI's policies amongst the teams or partners;
∎ Report any incident or act that causes any harm to the beneficiary or to others;
∎ Always interact with children with the presence of their parents or caregivers;
∎ Always ask permission to touch or to apply any treatment or mobilizations to someone.
∎ Always respect a refusal of treatment;
∎ Work with the best of knowledge and abilities to offer a good quality nursing treatment.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age 22 to 35 years
∎ At least 2 years of work experience in a hospital or equivalent setting;
∎ Computer knowledge (MS office package- both in English and Bangla).
∎ Previous NGO experience.
∎ Able to work in harsh conditions;
∎ Good physical condition;
∎ Sensitized on issues related child protection, protection of gender based violence;
∎ Strong team work approach ;
∎ Communication skills in verbal and written Bangla.
∎ Experience in humanitarian context;
∎ Experience working in multidisciplinary context ;
∎ Knowledge of English and/or Chittagonian.
