With the support of The Global Fund, the BRAC Health Programme has been implementing the Malaria Elimination Project for more than two decades in collaboration with the National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP). BRAC works with a people-centered approach across rural areas in 13 malaria-endemic districts of the country. The aim of this initiative is to achieve the elimination of malaria from Bangladesh by 2030, aligning with Bangladesh`s sustainable development goals. This endeavor encompasses various strategies, including malaria diagnosis, treatment, referral services, community mobilization and awareness campaigns, as well as the distribution of insecticidal treated nets (ITNs) to populations at risk of malaria.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure quality of blood slide examination of suspected malaria patients and prepare TB presumptive as per laboratory manual.
Provide treatment of all positive malaria patients and referral of complicated cases to the UHC or higher facilities.
Ensure preparing of monthly all laboratory reports both for TB & malaria.
Ensure proper maintenance of laboratory instruments, equipment and other logistics.
Maintain proper record keeping, updating of registers and timely reporting as per standard protocol
Maintain laboratory stock properly (preparation of requisition, collection, storage and utilization of diagnostics, reagents and drugs according to expired date)
Ensure monthly cross-check of blood slides (according to guideline) at UHC and EQA lab and take necessary steps according to discordant/feedback.
Ensure hygienic disposal of waste materials
Practice and promote BRAC Gender Policy. Support implementation of gender equality and women empowerment at all levels.
SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.
