Job Context:
∎ The Medical Officer is responsible for implementing management of patient in the facility both from host and refugee context. He/she is responsible in his individual capacity, as well as overall in charge. The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Clinic supervisor to provide support to the community through the performance of the following duties.


∎ Duty Station: Ukhiya, Bangladesh
∎ Report To: Clinic Supervisor
∎ Expected Start Date: At Earliest
∎ Contract length: Up to 31st December, 2022 (With possibility of Extension subject to funding, program needs and performance of incumbent)

Job Responsibilities:
∎ (A) Provide Primary Care Services as follows
∎ Consultation of OPD and IPD patient on roster basis following the guidelines in place.
∎ Take the ownership of the facility in absence of Clinic supervisor
∎ Urgent medical services (including resuscitation, stabilization and assessment and diagnosis, treatment and referral as necessary following SOP
∎ Ensure BeMONC services at the facility. Experience in conducting Normal Vaginal Delivery.
∎ Assess the urgency and severity of presenting problems through history taking, examination and investigation.
∎ Recommending and, where appropriate, undertaking treatment options and carrying out/referring for appropriate interventions and procedures, including but not limited to prescribing, counselling, psychological interventions and education.
∎ Referral for diagnostic, therapeutic and support services as required.
∎ (B) Provide timely clinical and culturally appropriate health services through
∎ Ongoing health and development assessment and advice.
∎ Appropriate evidence based screening, risk assessment and early detection of illness, disease and disability.
∎ Working with public health providers in the prevention and control of communicable diseases for individuals and families.
∎ (C) Improve patient health through
∎ Health promotion to the practices' enrolled population, linking to public health programmes at a national, regional and local level and utilizing such programmes to target specific populations.
∎ Health education, counselling and information provision about how to improve health and prevent disease and interventions or treatments that treat risk factors.
∎ Clinical Notes: All patient consultations must be accurately recorded in the clinical patient notes within 24 hours of seeing the patient.
∎ (D) Health & Safety
∎ Comply with established health and safety policies with regard to handling of instruments, storage of drugs and disposal of sharps and other potentially dangerous equipment and substances. Comply with current NZ legislation.
∎ (E) IPC Management and others
∎ Provide training on IPC.
∎ Monitor triage, early recognition and source control
∎ Supervise instrument processing
∎ Monitor waste management in the hospital.
∎ Contribute in ensuring the safeguarding in the organization

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at least 19 years
∎ 1-2 years of experience for candidates holding a first level university degree.
∎ Experience in health related programs.
∎ Knowledge and experience with working in the field, public health sector and in medical emergencies. Experience with refugee health will be an added advantage.
∎ Ability to work effectively under pressure in hardship situations and harmoniously within a team of colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds.
∎ Previous experience in development project at an international organization is an advantage.
∎ Ability to work independently under minimal supervision & excellent interpersonal skills.
∎ Excellent interpersonal skill.
∎ Ability to communicate clearly and sensitively in written and spoken English.

Salary:
∎ As per RI National Pay Scale Policy in Bangladesh

Compensation & Other Benefits:
∎ Weekly 2 holidays, Insurance
∎ Two festival bonuses in a year equivalent to one Gross salary.
∎ Severance (8.33% of the monthly Gross salary) goes with the monthly release of the salary.
