Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Reporting to: Advisor, ASK
∎ Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) was established in 1986 as a national legal aid and human rights organization. Initially its work was limited to providing free legal services to the disempowered particularly women, working children and workers.ASK has evolved a more comprehensive approach to the promotion, protection and prevention in the area of legal and human rights. ASK's strategies to promote human rights awareness and community activism; offer legal aid through mediation and litigation while survivors are given psycho-social counseling; investigations into human rights violations and their documentation are supplemented by research which together lead to media campaigns to defend human rights, and public interest litigation for law and policy reform. ASK has implemented different projects in Cox's Bazar and is currently working to promote women's participation in peace building and social cohesion among Rohingya and the host community. DW Akademie (DWA), together with its three co-applicants, Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK), EngageMedia (EM) and Digital Resilience Asia (DRA), have built a strong consortium that is based on their solid track record in relevant fields. ASK is a CSO with a strong focus on human rights, legal aid and access to the Rohingya camps located in Bangladesh. With its sound expertise in facilitating digital and in-person dialogue, working with media partners from Bangladesh and Myanmar – both in-country and in exile – as well as its long experience in youth work and interacting with civil society and its dense networks on the ground, the consortium is in a unique position to respond with innovative digital approaches to the objectives and priorities of the project for conflict prevention, peace building and crisis preparedness in South Asia and Myanmar.
∎ Digital Spaces for Dialogue proposes to conduct digital dialogues between young people aged between 18 and 30 from various ethnic groups in Myanmar and Bangladesh, including exile communities in third countries. In the process, it will sustainably build the capacities of CSOs focusing on youth engagement and youth in the target areas to promote dialogue, communicate about peace issues, and link young people with media and decision makers. The objective is to empower the target groups to use innovative digital tools for peacebuilding and to contribute to giving a voice to youth in the public discourse about peace and conflict issues in Myanmar and Bangladesh.
∎ Overall management and coordination of the project;
∎ Plan, coordinate and facilitate the capacity need assessment and mapping process of local communities, Rohingya community and networks; identify the key areas of improvements and make recommendations for implementation of capacity building components;
∎ Identifying civil society and youth actors as key target groups following the guidelines in the Project
∎ Strengthening CSOs' capacities in using innovative digital tools for peace building aligning with the Specific objective and the priority of the Project
∎ Working with mass media (TG3) and conducting multi-stakeholder dialogues (MSD) to increase the action's reach and contribute further to the Project's Global Objective.
∎ Develop ToRs for hiring consultants in accordance with ASK policies and coordinate with top management to manage the delivery of outputs.
∎ Arrange and coordinate all training with consultants and facilitators;
∎ Facilitate constructive dialogue among participants with differing viewpoints
∎ Identify opportunities for project intervention, and CSOs and individuals to be involved in project activities
∎ Identify and address content that violates community guidelines or threatens peaceful discourse
∎ Create a safe, inclusive environment for the meaningful exchange of ideas
∎ Provide customised mentoring follow-ups at organisational and individual levels;
∎ Coordinate and monitor the delivery of capacity-building activities by consultants;
∎ Facilitating dialogue about problems of peace and conflict in dialogue spaces
∎ design and development of studies, modules, IEC materials and delivery of training about gender-based violence in conflict situation, peace building, social cohesion and anti-trafficking;
∎ Ensure timely, quality and accurate reporting to management and donor(s) on a regular basis based on the Project Monitoring & Evaluation framework;
∎ Active participation in activities within the projects implemented by the organisation and participation in meetings, workshops, training, research, advocacy, preparation of reports to various bodies, etc.
