Job Context:
∎ BASA Foundation with support from Heifer International Bangladesh is operating a small-scale milk processing plant under the ownership of cooperatives in order to rebuild the milk supply chain with safe and quality in the urban and rural markets in Bhairab, Kishoregonj. Through this model, milk will be collected from village level collection points and transport to the processing plant where it will pasteurize and package automatically and marketed by maintaining proper cool chain to adjacent urban market under the KRISHOK brand name.
∎ Market Development Officer-Dairy will play key role for the strengthening, growth, sustainability and expansion of the milk business by the cooperative. He/She will assist to collect milk from the farmers, proper processing at the plant and marketing of the milk. Furthermore he/she will assist to maintain proper quality control of the milk. This position is reportable to the Cooperative Coordinator and the salary is Tk.23,500 + festival bonus.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Executing all field level project activities and managing deliverables assigned by Project Coordinator.
∎ Support capacity development of Milk Collection Centre operators cum milk salesman and smallholder women farmers to effective collection of milk.
∎ Organizing workshops, courtyard meetings, promotional campaigns and other types of engagements for safe milk production, handling and collection through village level collection centers and processing plant.
∎ Support milk processing plant manager for proper quality control and hygienic handling of milk and operation of processing plant.
∎ Support salesman and processing plant managers for proper sales growth and meeting the monthly sales target by creating market for this new milk brand.
∎ Monitoring the proper transportation and timely shipment of milk from collection centers to processing plant to market for selling.
∎ Regularly mentoring milk salesman and processing plant managers to explore growth opportunities and overcome obstacles.
∎ Supporting milk salesman and processing plant managers to conduct promotional activities, expand household reach and maintain business linkages with agriculture wholesalers/rural entrepreneurs, traders.
∎ Maintain liaison with officials from local government, NGOs, Microfinance providers, community associations, schools and relevant institutions to support project goals.
∎ Preparing weekly and monthly activity reports and submitting to Cooperative Coordinator.
∎ Supporting project team in collecting and sharing success stories and impact highlights from the field.
∎ Any other duties assigned by the project leadership team.
Additional Requirements:
∎ 2 - 3 years' proven experience in agricultural products marketing (Milk Marketing will be a plus)
∎ Experience with business management and salesmanship
∎ Strong safety and security awareness when working with women participants.
∎ Sound knowledge of social mobilization, incorporating gender sensitive practices.
∎ Good understanding of MS Office applications.
∎ Good written and oral communication skills in Bengali.
