Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Coordinate import shipment activities, including customs clearance and documentation.
∎ Develop and implement policies and procedures related to imports.
∎ Monitor and analyze import data to identify compliance issues and take corrective actions.
∎ Maintain and update the import compliance database.
∎ Monitor and report on international trade trends and developments.
∎ Liaise with freight forwarders and other third parties to ensure timely and accurate import processes and paperwork.
∎ Negotiate contracts with suppliers and customers.
∎ Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations related to imports.
∎ Develop and maintain relationships with foreign suppliers, customs authorities, and other relevant organisations.
∎ Prepare and submit required reports to internal and external stakeholders.
∎ Vast knowledge of Customs HS code/SRO/CPC and product identifications.
∎ Sound knowledge of importing from abroad Capital Machinery/ Spares/Chemicals/Fire protection systems etc & a good understanding of documentation.
∎ Knowledge of import LC opening by different mechanisms. Like UPAS/EDF/PLAIN OR DEFERRED LC/SBLC/SIGHT OR USANCE LC ETC.
∎ Sound knowledge on Incoterms 2000/URR/ucpdc600/ local import policy etc.
∎ The Import Manager is responsible for overseeing the import of products from our international suppliers and partners. The Import Manager will work with a team of professionals to ensure that all imports are handled efficiently and in compliance with international and domestic regulations. He will also be responsible for managing the import process from start to finish, from working with suppliers to negotiating contracts and ensuring timely deliveries. The ideal candidate should have strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, as well as extensive experience in international trade and customs regulations.
