Job Context:
∎ The Danish Refugee Council (DRC), one of the world’s leading NGOs, with a focus on responding to displacement, have been registered in Bangladesh since 2013. In 2017, in response to the Rohingya influx, DRC are preparing to launch an integrated program of support to the government in site management, shelter/NFI and protection. In 2018, DRC will be implementing aid projects in support of the host communities most affected by the influx of refugees. As a key part of this, DRC opened a main office in Cox’s Bazar, and a support/liaison office in Dhaka.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Overall purpose of the role:
∎ The Liaison and Admin coordinator will ensure timely and effective processing of necessary permits/authorisations and visas to support DRC’s operations developing and maintain good relationships with the relevant bodies in Dhaka. The role will appraise the CD of any developments in the government that will impact on DRC’s operations or standing in the response. This role is also responsible for analysing and informing the CD of any changes in safety or policies that will affect DRC’s operations. This position requires someone who is self-motivated and able to use their own initiative providing solutions to issues that may be faced in operational areas.
∎ MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
∎ to ensure that DRC is positively represented with all relevant stakeholders and authorities through clear communications and positive information sharing related to the mission of DRC in Bangladesh
∎ Monitor and report to the CD on relevant political and social developments in Bangladesh particularly relating to the Rohingya response and any new initiatives launched or political and social trends, in collaboration with the Safety and Security Coordinator when appropriate
∎ Ensure positive representation of DRC at the Dhaka level with the relevant government and stakeholders
∎ SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
∎ Ensure compliance with NGO permits authorisations and visas for staffing and implementation purposes
∎ Maintain cordial and responsive relationships with the NGOAB and other department heads who DRC is working with.
∎ Ensure flights, hotel bookings and transfers are managed effectively and efficiently for all team members
∎ Timely payments and liquidations are achieved for petty cash issues

∎ Assume responsibility for staff safety in the area of operation.
∎ Ensure all relevant information regarding safety, security and the context is collected, updated and shared in a regular and timely manner with the Safety and Security Coordinator and CD.
∎ Collaborate with the Cox’s Bazar Safety Coordinator and Senior Management Team to make decisions and manage security incidents at the Dhaka level.
Additional Requirements:
∎ 4-8 years’ experience
∎ Experience and understanding of analysing security and contextual issues in Dhaka that might impact on DRC
∎ Essential:
∎ Previous INGO experience in Bangladesh
∎ Proactive and self-motivated, able to use own initiative
∎ Excellent organisational skills
∎ Experienced in working with key contacts in Government office
∎ Proven excellent communication and writing skills
∎ Desirable:
∎ Experience working in the Cox’s Bazar Rohingya Response is an added advantage
∎ Languages: (indicate fluency level)
∎ Fluency in English.
∎ Fluency in Bangla.
