Responsibilities & Context:

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Leather Engineer will be responsible for managing the selection, processing, quality control, and application of leather materials used in furniture production. The role ensures that leather used for sofas, chairs, and other upholstered furniture meets quality standards, durability requirements and design specifications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Select and evaluate leather materials used in furniture upholstery.

• Ensure leather quality meets company standards for durability, texture, color consistency and finishing.

• Monitor leather cutting, stitching and upholstery processes in furniture production.

• Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure quality leather supply.

• Conduct quality inspections to detect defects such as scratches, uneven dyeing, or surface damage.

• Assist in product development and new leather design selection as well as Artificial leather also.

• Maintain proper documentation of leather specifications and quality reports.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Leather Engineering / Leather Technology.

• Diploma or training in leather processing or leather product manufacturing will be an added advantage.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• 5– 10 years of experience in leather processing, leather quality control or leather product manufacturing.

• Experience working with leather for furniture upholstery will be preferred.
