Experience:
Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent, recognized by BMDC or DGHS;
Higher qualification (BSc in Medical Laboratory Technology or similar) is an advantage.
Experience
Minimum 3 years of experience in clinical laboratory services.
Experience in humanitarian or low-resource settings is preferred.
Previous experience in CEmOC or hospital-based laboratories is an advantage.
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of basic laboratory diagnostics, hematology, biochemistry, and point-of-care testing.
Good understanding of IPC, biosafety, and quality assurance systems.
Ability to operate and maintain basic laboratory equipment.
Basic computer skills (MS Office, data entry, reporting).
Language: Basic Bangla and English required; Rohingya/Chittagonian is an asset.

Duty Station: Mother & Child Hospital (MCH), Camp 21, Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar
Purpose of the Position
The Laboratory Technologist is responsible for providing accurate, timely, and high-quality laboratory services to support clinical care at the Mother & Child Hospital (MCH), Camp 21. Working in a CEmOC-capable humanitarian setting serving Rohingya and host communities, the position will:
Perform and manage routine and emergency laboratory testing for maternal, newborn, paediatric, and adult patients in line with hospital protocols and quality standards.
Ensure quality assurance, biosafety, IPC compliance, and safe biomedical waste management in all laboratory procedures.
Support disease diagnosis, surveillance, and emergency response through reliable laboratory services.
Work closely with clinical and support teams to ensure efficient and uninterrupted laboratory operations.
The position does not have formal supervisory responsibility but may guide laboratory assistants when required.
Key Responsibilities
Perform routine and emergency laboratory tests including haematology, biochemistry, urine analysis, and rapid diagnostic tests.
Collect, receive, label, and process biological specimens (blood, urine, stool, sputum, swabs, etc.) following IPC and safety protocols.
Ensure accurate sample processing and timely reporting of results, especially for emergency and critical cases.
Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment (centrifuge, microscope, glucometer, analyzers, refrigerators, etc.) and report faults promptly.
Apply internal quality control measures and participate in quality assurance activities.
Verify test results for accuracy and report critical or abnormal findings immediately to clinicians.
Maintain proper documentation, laboratory registers, and reporting systems with confidentiality.
Support stock management of reagents, consumables, and PPE; report shortages in a timely manner.
Ensure strict adherence to IPC protocols, biosafety standards, and proper biomedical waste management.
Assist in disease surveillance, outbreak response, and specimen referral when required.
Coordinate with clinicians, nurses, pharmacists, and lab teams for smooth laboratory service delivery.
Perform any other relevant duties assigned by the supervisor.
Monthly Gross Salary: BDT 50,000 /= (Only)
Bonus and other benefits: 10% of the monthly gross salary.
