Job Context:
∎ Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international medical humanitarian organization working in more than 80 countries worldwide. We deliver emergency medical care to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, healthcare exclusion and natural or manmade disasters. MSF first worked in Bangladesh in 1992.
∎ As Laboratory Supervisor, you will be performing the daily clinical laboratory activities as designated by the project medical team, supervising the daily activities within the laboratory, ensuring team co-ordination and functioning, enabling high quality output. Further, you will define and implement the human, material and organisational means required for guaranteeing the continuity and quality of the laboratory activities. You will ensure the co-ordination with different departments (OPD, observation, SRH, nutrition, TB, etc).

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Oversee the laboratory facilities, daily activities and laboratory staff including for example monthly rosters in both of our clinics
∎ Defining the human, material, technical and financial resources required for the smooth running of the laboratory
∎ Checking that security and asepsis protocols are followed by the lab personnel
∎ Adapting laboratory activities in accordance with medical developments of the project
∎ Participate in the quality control activities as demanded by the expatriate lab supervisor
∎ Be responsible for stock control in the lab, and make lab orders
∎ Planning and organising the set out, renovation and maintenance of the premises
∎ Identifying material needs (equipment and consumable material)
∎ Coach and support the staff in organising & managing all laboratory materials
∎ Checking on correct usage and maintenance of laboratory equipment
∎ Ensuring safety and waste disposal measures together with logistics
∎ Check the proper completion of the laboratory registers and the results of the tests
∎ Describing and analysing laboratory activities (collecting data, drawing up activity reports and guaranteeing the quality of the reports, identifying necessary program changes)
∎ Prepare monthly reports, including statistics and planning
∎ Contribute to the recruitment, selection and introduction of national laboratory personnel
∎ Identifying the needs and organise the training of national staff working in the laboratory
∎ Organising the replacement of absent personnel
∎ Leading and organising regular laboratory team meetings
∎ Adhering to the rules as set out in the national internal regulations during personnel management
∎ Coordinate the adequate sample collection, sample preparation and shipment to other laboratories if required (confirmation testing, etc.), taking into account necessary measures as cold chain, etc.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Essential 2 years’ experience as Laboratory Technician
∎ Experience of managing a laboratory
∎ Experience with staff management: leadership, coaching and development
∎ Experience and skilled in statistics
∎ Desirable in MSF or another NGO, desirable in a clinical laboratory
∎ Essential Bengali and intermediate English

Salary:
∎ Monthly salary according to level 7 of the internal MSF salary grid, which is 70,056 BDT gross. Contract length is twelve months (with possibility of extension)
