Educational Requirements:

∎ Project description : REACH is a global research programme (2015-24) to improve water security for 10 million poor people in Africa and Asia. The programme is funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and led by the University of Oxford in association with partners in Bangladesh, Kenya, and Ethiopia. In Bangladesh, the programme is led by the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), with the University of Dhaka, and the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Diseases, Bangladesh (icddr,b) as research collaborations, and UNICEF as the implementing partner. ∎ Overview of the role: The Knowledge Exchange Manager is responsible for the strategy and delivery of internal and external communications for the programme and ensuring the effective delivery of the Research into Action Strategy. You will be an experienced and self-motivated communications or knowledge exchange specialist who will work closely with all members of the consortium to communicate the programme`s research and bring about change in policy and practice.
∎ The post-holder will also lead the organisation of a programme of events including annual workshops and conferences. You will combine the experience and capability of delivering innovative communications or knowledge exchange work with ideally a knowledge of water security for poverty reduction. You will be a keen team player and ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with university staff and international partners. The role will involve some overseas travel.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Help disseminate information about REACH knowledge sharing program to internal and external audiences, maintaining communications on knowledge sharing across the stakeholders, participation in training/workshops, and preparation of brochures/presentations.
∎ Engage with government stakeholders and development partners to facilitate REACH's agenda of producing impacts.
∎ Help produce high quality written outputs for publication in academic journals along with policy briefs and/blogs for knowledge sharing.
∎ Work closely with researchers based at BUET, and Oxford to ensure alignment of research methodologies across sites.
∎ Monitor progress and learning processes by keeping track of engagement, project outcomes and other metrics.
∎ Making sure that the right knowledge goes to the right people, and that this information is promptly applied to the research activities.
∎ Help obtain new knowledge with the usage of a knowledge management system.
∎ Encouraging a culture of knowledge-sharing and collaborative workflow among departments and project teams.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Knowledge of policy and technical debates relating to water security for poverty reduction.
∎ Experience of working successfully with senior academics/researchers.
∎ Excellent track record in communications and knowledge exchange activities including the ability to work with and maintain relationships with multiple stakeholders in international science, corporate or practitioner organisations.
∎ Excellent written and communication skills in both English and Bangla, including professional presentation skills, and general ability to represent the research team.
∎ Desirable
∎ At least five to ten years of work experience in the relevant fields.
∎ Work experience in academic or development settings.
