Educational Requirements:

∎ Project description: REACH is a global research programme (2015-24) to improve water security for 10 million poor people in Africa and Asia. The programme is funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and led by the University of Oxford in association with partners in Bangladesh, Kenya, and Ethiopia. In Bangladesh, the programme is led by the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), with the University of Dhaka, and the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Diseases, Bangladesh (icddr,b) as research collaborations, and UNICEF as the implementing partner. ∎ 2. About the role: REACH will implement a package of social science research. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the events organisation and communications for the REACH team, ensuring effective communication of high impact research and engagement to key target audiences.
∎ You will be part of the administrative team of the REACH Bangladesh Team, which includes the Country Director, the Programme Coordinator, the Programme Administrator and Knowledge Exchange Manager. The post will be based in the IWFM, BUET.
∎ You will work closely with the Management and Research teams in the IWFM, BUET and University of Oxford. You will also co-ordinate with the REACH partners and stakeholder in civil society, business, and governments. Using your skills with websites, media (social and traditional) and other strategic opportunities, you will help raise the profile of these initiatives, disseminate knowledge, influence decision makers, create new partnerships and leverage further resourcing.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Manage internal and external communications through multiple channels and formats including.
∎ Maintaining, updating our database of REACH staff and students, and using it to communicate with the consortium.
∎ Translate research findings into compelling messages, stories, and varied outputs suitable for different audiences, and support other members of staff and partners to develop engaging content. This includes, but is not limited to:
∎ o Providing support in developing blogs, policy briefs, reports, and other written outputs.
∎ o Preparing short videos, infographics and/or other design material (note: this can be commissioned, but the Communications and Knowledge Exchange Manager will be responsible for the commissioning process)
∎ o Preparing visuals and posts for print and electronic media.
∎ o Identifying and pursuing opportunities for media outreach, including pitches and press releases. A record and maintaining of media engagements.
∎ Support with the organisation and promotion of small internal and external events including REACH monthly webinars, meetings, seminars and other.
∎ Ensure that all communication materials maintain a high visual standard and follow REACH, Oxford University, and FCDO guidelines on branding.
∎ In addition to the duties listed, the post-holder may need to perform other duties assigned by the REACH Programme Manager.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Essential
∎ Excellent written and communication skills in both English and Bangla.
∎ Experience of creating and/or commissioning content for different communications channels including websites, social media, written reports, press releases and audio-visual; and evaluating the effectiveness of these channels.
∎ Proficient IT skills, including experience of managing website content, social media, standard Office packages.
∎ Willingness to travel to and stay in Khulna to conduct extensive fieldwork
∎ Desirable
∎ Experience of organising events, including planning and promotion.
∎ Experience of producing or commissioning visual, audio and/or video content.
∎ A passion for the natural world.
∎ Knowledge of and interest in the subject areas covered by water security.
