Job Context:
∎ GIZ Bangladesh is currently seeking applications for its "IGS- Initiative Global Solidarity" for the position "Junior Advisor/ Advisor- Supply Chain Sustainability in the Textile and Garment Sector".
∎ Band: 3T or 4T
∎ Contract Duration: Up to June 2024
Job Responsibilities:
∎ The position holder is responsible for:
∎ Managing an area of responsibility that forms part of the programme objectives, team agreements and/or agreements with the superior
∎ Assisting project/programme initiatives to provide professional advisory services to and cooperate with a broad range of target groups
∎ Advise supervisor on all task when implementing GIZ rules and regulation
∎ Advise supervisor in the field of project's planning, steering and monitoring
∎ Independently implement goals and requirements set by the line manager
∎ Make decisions which have a short-term effect within a limited project area/ unit
∎ Assist supervisor to identify day to day problem and suggest appropriate solution
∎ In this context, the position holder fulfils the following tasks:
∎ Tasks:
∎ Assist supervisor on all task when implementing GIZ rules and regulation
∎ Core scope of tasks:
∎ Support the implementation of project activities to improve the sustainability performance of the textile and leather sector with a special focus on social and environmental compliance and standards, due diligence and risk assessment in supply chains, human rights topics
∎ Conduct and support data collection, analysis and assessments with regards to sustainability in the textile and garment supply chains
∎ Other duties/additional tasks:
∎ The position holder:
∎ Coordinate with and provide technical support to partners from the private sector, business associations as well as partner organisations from NGOs, academia, service providers to enhance due diligence and sustainability management in Bangladesh
∎ Support relevant capacity development formats as well as country-specific and regional events/workshops/roundtables in the field of sustainable supply chains
∎ Support the monitoring and evaluation of the project activities
∎ Contribute to the knowledge management of the project by collecting and adequately distributing information and relevant communication material about the activities
∎ Support activities in the textile cluster and on regional level in close collaboration with other partner countries
Additional Requirements:
∎ Knowledge of relevant topics and international discussions of sustainability in the supply chain, due diligence, social and environmental standards, preferably in the garment sector
∎ Professional experience:
∎ At least 3 years of professional work experience in related positions of increasing responsibility, preferably with the private sector and/or third-party certifier and/or development cooperation; experience in the garment sector and a relevant network would be considered a distinct advantage
∎ Previous job experience in GIZ will be an asset
∎ Other knowledge, additional competences:
∎ Understanding of relevant capacity development issues in the sector in Bangladesh is an asset
∎ Good communication skills with stakeholders from development sector, NGOs, private sector and government, enabling collaboration to achieve joint objectives
∎ Proven ability to work in a team, also in intercultural contexts
∎ Excellent verbal and written English and Bengali language and skills
