Job Context:
∎ HI has been working in Bangladesh since 1997, focusing on creating sustainable changes to ensure the rights and inclusion of people with disabilities in society. HI is an independent and impartial aid organization working in poverty, exclusion, conflict, and disaster situations throughout Bangladesh. With projects in different districts of the country, HI works not only with people with disabilities and other vulnerable populations, but also with their families, their communities, and local humanitarian actors to respond to their essential needs, improve their living conditions, promote respect for their dignity and fundamental rights, and provide sustainability in its action. As one of the key organizations in the disability sector, HI has a wide range of projects which assist in promoting the inclusion of persons with disabilities and their issues in emergency and development contexts, building capacities of local stakeholders, and reducing the impact of natural and human-made disasters. Particularly in Cox`s Bazar district, HI is providing services in rehabilitation, MH/PSS, SRH, protection, and inclusive education with an inclusion mainstreaming approach to refugees and host populations affected by the forcibly displaced undocumented Myanmar nationals. HI`s multi-sectoral mobile units (MU) and static approach are currently working in 15 camps located in both Teknaf and Ukhiya Upazilas and surrounding host areas providing comprehensive services in physical rehabilitation, primary health care, protection, and MHPSS.
∎ HI is currently implementing a development and humanitarian response project in Kurigram, and Cox`s Bazar district through 4 project offices (Kurigram, Ukhiya, and Teknaf) and 2 coordination offices (Dhaka and Cox Bazar).
∎ Operational Thematic: Livelihood, Health and Rehabilitation, Protection, Inclusion, Education, and Atlas Logistics
∎ Number of staff: Around 294 National staff and 06 international staff
∎ HI is currently looking for an Interpreter (Casual Worker) for its UNHCR-funded project.
∎ Job Location: Ukhiya, Cox`s Bazar, Bangladesh.
∎ Employment Type: Casual (Daily Basis)
∎ Working Time: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (with one hour Lunch Break) may vary depending on the transportation period from Cox`s Bazar to Ukhiya.
∎ Number of positions: 01 Person
∎ Incentive: BDT-1000/per day
∎ Reports to: Project Manager/Supervisor

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Overview: HI is seeking a dedicated and compassionate interpreter to provide language support and facilitate communication for one of our employees with a disability. As an interpreter, you will primarily be responsible for assisting the employee in training sessions, facilitating translation into the Rohingya language, accompanying him at various venues within the camp and Cox's Bazar area, and aiding in data entry and document preparation for reporting purposes. Your role will be crucial in ensuring effective communication and providing necessary assistance to the person with a disability.
∎ Responsibilities:
∎ Language Support: Provide interpretation services from the local language to the Rohingya language (and vice versa) during training sessions, meetings, and other work-related activities.
∎ Training Facilitation: Accompany the employee with a disability during training sessions, ensuring they can actively participate by providing real-time interpretation and clarifying any language barriers.
∎ Venue Accompaniment: Accompany the employee to various venues within the camp and Cox's Bazar area as required, assisting in communication with relevant personnel and ensuring the person with a disability can access the necessary resources and facilities.
∎ Data Entry and Document Preparation: Support the employee in data entry tasks, organizing information, and preparing documents for reporting purposes, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
∎ Sensitivity and Empathy: Maintain a high level of empathy, understanding, and sensitivity when working with a person with a disability, promoting an inclusive and supportive work environment.
∎ Communication Liaison: Act as a liaison between the employee with a disability and other team members, fostering effective communication and ensuring their needs and concerns are effectively addressed.
∎ Cultural Sensitivity: Demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity when working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, respecting their traditions, customs, and values.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at least 18 years
∎ The candidate must have basic IT skills (Microsoft Office).
∎ The candidate must have English language and Chittagonian / Rohyinga language skills.
∎ The candidate must have facilitation skills (facilitation of training, awareness session, and communication with the community).
∎ Ability to work with individuals with disabilities, demonstrating empathy, patience, and understanding.
∎ Respect for confidentiality and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
∎ Willingness to work flexible hours and travel to different venues within the camp and Cox's Bazar area as required.
∎ The candidate must be a Bangladeshi national from Cox’s Bazar district (Specially Ukhiya Upzila).
∎ The candidate must be 18 years old age and above.
∎ The candidate should have an Android phone with a good charge backup.
∎ Experience working with HI can be added advantage.

Salary:
∎ Terms & Conditions from HI: The interpreter will receive BDT 1,000.00 (One Thousand BDT) per day as remuneration. The interpreter has to work 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (with one hour Lunch Break) The Interpreter can enjoy all the government-declared holidays, but it will not count as a working day. HI will not provide car support for the Interpreter. The interpreter can`t share the HI beneficiary data with other actors or agencies. He/she must follow the data protection policy. He/she must work from the office and Field (Camp).
