Job Purpose:

The Infrastructure Specialist will be in a key strategic position to support Climate Resilience Early Warning System (CREWSnet) project, in driving the Climate Adaptation and resilience agenda forward. CREWSnet will extend proven forecasting and simulation methods to predict climate impacts at village‑ and community‑scale in western Bangladesh.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible to collect local information regarding the infrastructure and analyses the local requirements of infrastructure, considering the local environmental and socio-economic requirements.
  • Responsible to analysing the local environment and climate change information as per project requirements
  • Ensure environmental impact assessment and climate risk analysis on the infrastructure as per project designed
  • Introduce the innovative idea by understanding the climate risk including the cyclone and heat stress on the infrastructure and designing, adoption of design of infrastructure including housing and cyclone shelters, rainwater harvesters, etc.
  • Finding the new idea and supporting ongoing climate projection modelling.
  • Literature review on the structural design including the resilient housing and keep the research and implementation team aware of the updated information
  • Communicate relevant information and data with the community in an easy language.
  • Provide support to activity planning towards climate justice as per project proposal.
  • Ensure active participation in local-level planning and execution.
  • Responsible for all Documentation, article writing and communication development.
  • Prepare monthly, periodic, need-based reports.

SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
