  • Education: Post-graduate degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

  • Experience: 12–15+ years of experience in credit risk or credit management within Banks or NBFIs, with deep expertise in SME/Small Enterprise lending and senior leadership exposure.

  • Credit Expertise: Strong command of SME underwriting, portfolio risk management, post disbursement monitoring, regulatory frameworks, implementation and credit governance.

  • Credit Technology & Analytics: Oversee implementation of credit technology platforms, loan origination systems, and credit scoring model.

  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead large team and manage stakeholders.

  • Strategic & Analytical Skills: Ability to balance portfolio-level risk management with business growth objectives.

  • Behavioral Skills: High integrity, sound judgment, strong communication, executive presence, and decision-making under pressure.



Responsibilities & Context:

Credit Strategy & Risk Governance

  • Define and implement the credit risk strategy, underwriting standards, and risk appetite for Small Enterprise lending.

  • Establish and maintain robust credit governance frameworks, approval matrices, and delegated authority structures.

  • Ensure alignment of Small Enterprise credit policies with enterprise-wide risk management standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Act as the final authority or senior recommender on large, complex, or high-risk credit proposals.

Credit Approval & Oversight

  • Exercise credit approval authority within delegated limits and recommend proposals beyond delegation to higher governance forums or the Board, as applicable.

  • Provide final review and guidance on escalated credit proposals from Regional Credit Heads.

  • Ensure consistent and independent credit judgment across all regions and business units.

Portfolio Management & Asset Quality

  • Conduct client meetings and on-site pre and post visits to gather qualitative insights and validate quantitative and operational information based on delegation matrix.

  • Oversee the performance and quality of the Small Enterprise credit portfolio, including delinquency trends, NPAs, restructurings, and concentration risks.

  • Guide strategies for portfolio diversification and risk mitigation.

  • Ensure effective monitoring frameworks, early warning systems, and corrective action processes.

Leadership & Credit Culture

  • Lead and develop the Small Enterprise credit organization, including Regional Credit Heads and senior credit leaders.

  • Foster a strong risk culture emphasizing discipline, accountability, independence, and ethical conduct.

  • Support talent development, succession planning, and capability building within the credit function.

Stakeholder & Business Partnership

  • Act as a strategic partner to Business Heads while maintaining independence of credit decision-making.

  • Represent the Small Enterprise credit function in senior management committees, risk forums, and governance bodies.

  • Provide strategic credit insights to executive leadership to support business planning and growth initiatives.

Regulatory, Audit & Compliance

  • Ensure full compliance with regulatory guidelines, internal policies, and supervisory expectations.

  • Lead responses to regulatory inspections, internal audits, and external reviews related to Small Enterprise credit.

  • Ensure timely remediation of audit findings and policy exceptions.

Process, Systems & Framework Enhancement

  • Drive continuous improvement in credit processes, tools, scorecards, and risk assessment methodologies.

  • Oversee implementation of credit technology platforms, loan origination systems, and MIS enhancements.

  • Promote data-driven decision-making across the credit function.
