Reports To: Chief Financial Officer (CFO) / Director – Finance
Location: Corporate Office (Tejgaon, Dhaka) with regular coordination with Factory Finance Teams

Position Summary:
The Head of Cost Accounting is responsible for leading the entire cost accounting function of the organization, ensuring accurate product costing, monitoring production and operational expenses, and providing management with insights for cost control and profitability improvement. This role bridges factory operations with financial strategy, ensuring that every product’s cost reflects real operational efficiency and resource utilization.
Key Responsibilities:
A. Costing & Product Profitability
- Oversee the development and maintenance of standard cost systems for all finished goods, semi-finished goods, and raw materials.
- Ensure accurate Bill of Materials (BOM), conversion cost, and overhead allocation across production lines.
- Conduct variance analysis between standard and actual costs (materials, labor, overheads) and recommend corrective actions.
- Lead cost reconciliation between production, inventory, and financial accounts.
- Monitor cost implications of process changes, recipe modifications, or packaging redesigns.
- Conduct SKU-wise profitability and margin analysis for management review.
B. Factory Cost Control & Monitoring
- Supervise cost data collection from factory operations (raw materials usage, wastage, rework, labor hours, machine efficiency, etc.).
- Coordinate with Production, Engineering, and Quality Control teams to ensure cost efficiency and resource optimization.
- Identify cost leakages and propose measures to improve manufacturing economics.
- Implement and monitor cost reduction initiatives at the factory level.
C. Cost Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare and present monthly and quarterly cost reports to management.
- Analyze cost trends for key input materials (flour, sugar, oil, packaging, etc.).
- Support pricing decisions by providing accurate and timely cost information.
- Maintain cost database and support management in long-term cost projections.
D. Budget Support & Financial Coordination
- Support the budgeting team by providing accurate cost data and forecasts for materials, utilities, and production overheads.
- Participate in annual budget preparation and assist in setting realistic production cost targets.
- Provide insights on cost behavior and break-even analysis.
E. Compliance, Control & Systems
- Ensure adherence to IAS 2 (Inventories) and relevant IFRS standards.
- Establish and maintain strong internal cost controls and documentation.
- Coordinate with Internal and External Auditors on cost verification.
- Drive ERP-based cost accounting system implementation and improvement (SAP / Oracle / Tally Prime / ERPNext).
F. Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and mentor the cost accounting team across corporate and factory levels.
- Build team capability in cost analysis, standard costing, and data interpretation.
- Foster collaboration with Production, Procurement, and Finance departments for integrated decision-making.
