Responsibilities & Context:

Tax, VAT & Regulatory Compliance

Oversee corporate tax planning, VAT compliance, and all regulatory/statutory filings (NBR and other authorities).

Develop and implement tax-efficient strategies to minimize liabilities and support profitability.

Stay updated on Bangladesh tax laws, budget changes, SROs, and policy implications; advise leadership proactively.

Manage relationships with tax authorities, auditors, and consultants; ensure smooth assessments, hearings, and submissions.

Financial Reporting & IFRS Governance

Ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with IFRS and Bangladesh/local accounting standards.

Lead preparation of annual financial statements, tax returns, audit schedules, and supporting documentation.

Ensure proper accounting treatment for complex areas (inventory valuation, cost allocation, CAPEX, depreciation, provisions, related-party, etc.).

Audit, Controls & Risk Management

Lead external audits, tax audits, and internal reviews; close audit observations with corrective actions.

Oversee internal controls, process compliance, fraud prevention, and risk mitigation frameworks.

Establish strong documentation, approval matrices, and compliance discipline across departments.

Systems Building & Rule Making (Company Operating System)

Create and implement company systems, SOPs, policies, authority matrix, and finance/compliance rulebooks.

Streamline workflows across Accounts, Finance, Commercial, Store, Purchase, Sales, and Compliance teams.

Introduce KPIs, dashboards, monthly closing discipline, and management reporting structure.

Cost Efficiency & Profit Improvement

Drive cost efficiency measures across procurement, utilities, inventory, logistics, wastage control, and overheads.

Establish robust budgeting, cost control, variance analysis, and cost-saving tracking mechanisms.

Improve working capital management: receivables, payables, inventory days, bank facilities, cash planning.

Leadership & Coordination

Lead and mentor the Accounts, Finance, and Compliance teams; improve capability and accountability.

Work closely with top management to support strategic decisions, investments, and operational improvements.

Coordinate with banks/financial institutions for limits, renewals, documentation, and compliance.
