Job Responsibilities:
∎ Under the overall supervision of Head of Sub Office in Cox's Bazar and direct supervision of IM & GIS Officer, the incumbent will support in implementation of day to day activities in concern department. In particular, he/she will:
∎ 1. Provide geo-spatial analysis, mapping and visualization as requested by information management officer to support inter sector coordination.
∎ 2. Provide thematic maps and graphics on a regular basis that serves forward planning as well as impact analysis. Produce information products on a regular basis to consolidate humanitarian response and support the production of a joint humanitarian response plan.
∎ 3. 3.Identify and analyses existing GIS systems and structure capacities, availability of relevant spatial datasets to be able to meet the accurate and timely mapping needs.
∎ 4. Participate in design and development of and maintain the required systems for related geo databases for Bangladesh, dataflow, and structure for better database management including data collection activities (primary and secondary datasets), data analysis and processing.
∎ 5. Support in maintenance of Inter sector coordination group information sharing portal, website content management and dissemination channels.
∎ 6. Support in maintenance and update of Arc online mapping portal, with consolidation of all open source spatial data for humanitarian response Provide technical support to the sector and agency IM focal point in works related to spatial data collection, geo processing and analyses.
∎ 7. Train and support staff in works related to geo data collection, survey and assessment; support in the field data collection, data management, as well as maintenance and support to database systems.
∎ 8. Support in coordinating effective IM/GIS implementation; ensure timely preparation and generation of local level information products, and support on information sharing and dissemination to all relevant channels.
∎ 9. Liaise with relevant authorities, United Nations (UN) agencies, Non- Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and other stakeholders at the national/hub/district level on issues related to GIS.
∎ 10. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Extensive Knowledge of ArcGIS or any enterprise GIS software, Relational Database Management System (RDBMS), Software development tools, dashboards, MS Office.
∎ Minimum three years of experience in emergency response in the field, Data Management or Information management, crisis, post conflict and other displacement situations.
∎ Understanding and respect of IOM's data protection guidelines.
∎ Working experience in the region is an advantage.
