With the support of The Global Fund, the BRAC Health Programme has been implementing the Malaria Elimination Project for more than two decades in collaboration with the National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP). BRAC works with a people-centered approach across rural areas in 13 malaria-endemic districts of the country. The aim of this initiative is to achieve the elimination of malaria from Bangladesh by 2030, aligning with Bangladesh`s sustainable development goals. This endeavor encompasses various strategies, including malaria diagnosis, treatment, referral services, community mobilization and awareness campaigns, as well as the distribution of insecticidal treated nets (ITNs) to populations at risk of malaria.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare monthly work-plan to implementing programmatic interventions accordingly in assigned areas.
Conduct screening test and health camp during peak season of malaria.
Execute proper requisition, distribution and utilization of ITNs and ensure logistics to community staff.
Perform community mobilization for active case finding, organize outreach centers, collection of samples and transport them to the nearby facilities for Xpert/Truenat/ Microscopy testing.
Perform contact investigation (CI) of bacteriologically-confirmed pulmonary TB patients (both DS-TB and DR-TB).
Refer contacts of index cases to the physician for screening the eligibility of TPT and ensure enrolment.
Follow-up of each patient and ensuring their visit to the physician after detected with TB and update the status as well as ensure DOT at the community.
Organize social behavior change (SBC) events in the assigned area.
Ensure the referral and transportation of complicated patients to the upazila health complex or other facilities and coordination with patient contact personnel.
Enrich the programme knowledge of all community staff and supervise the activities through regular field visits.
Ensure monthly report from health provider timely, and send to respective channel as per standard guideline.
SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure the safety of programme participants, people who come into contact with the organization and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme`s goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members.
Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.
