Requirements: Skills Required: Additional Requirements: - 5 years’ experience in WatSan/DRR/Climate change related projects delivery (preferably in NGOs/development agencies/government),
- May be relaxed for persons with higher educational qualification,
- Should be well conversant in operating word processing (MS Word, MS Excel),
- Should be fluent in both writing and speaking in Bangla and English,
- Ability to write independent report, experience in working with the local government will give preferred,
- Should have a valid driving license and willingness to ride motorcycle, frequent field visit required in Barind areas.
Responsibilities & Context: DASCOH is seeking application from qualified individual for the role of Field Engineer for its “Strengthening Climate-Vulnerable Urban Communities for Resilience and Gender-Inclusive Sustainable Development” to increase the resilience of vulnerable communities in urban areas towards the consequences of climate change. The incumbent will support the organization to design, implement, and oversee the construction of climate-resilient WASH infrastructure, housing improvements, and waste disposal systems in urban slums aligning with environmental and social safeguards (ESS). This role ensures sustainable and community-driven solutions to mitigate the impacts of climate change, enhance living conditions, and build adaptive capacities of vulnerable populations.

Objective of the mandate:
- The objectives of the project execution mandate are:
- To ensure the successful planning, implementation, and supervision of climate-resilient infrastructure.
- Ensure ESS of each infrastructure and documentation accordingly.
- To ensure housing improvements in urban slums, enhancing community resilience to climate change.
- To ensure sustainable, climate adaptive, socially accepted WASH and waste management solutions in the urban slum.
- Implement Program Activities related to infrastructure development by appropriate designing and planning, arranging resources, and managing other activities.
- Build relationships with Local government institutions members, farmers, partners, and others to ensure program delivery and develop strategic partnerships.
- Support the overall implementation, monitoring, and reporting of field-level activities.
- Ensure team member safety, promote safeguarding policies, and follow reporting procedures.
Functions:
- Project Planning and Design:
- Conduct detailed site assessments and feasibility studies in urban slums to identify infrastructure needs for climate adaptation and mitigation.
- Develop technical designs and plans for climate-adaptive WASH infrastructure (e.g water supply systems, sanitation facilities, drainage networks etc).
- Design climate-resilient housing improvement models that are affordable and sustainable.
- Propose innovative waste disposal and management solutions tailored to urban slum contexts.
- Oversee the construction and rehabilitation of WASH facilities, housing structures, and waste management systems.
- Ensure that all construction activities comply with relevant standards, safety protocols, and environmental guidelines.
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
- Monitor progress and provide on-site technical guidance to workers and local artisans involved in the project.
- Collaborate with urban slum communities to integrate their inputs into designs and implementation plans.
- Provide training and capacity building for local stakeholders on maintaining WASH infrastructure, housing improvements, and waste disposal systems.
- Coordinate with municipal authorities, NGOs, and other stakeholders for necessary approvals and technical inputs.
- Develop and implement monitoring frameworks to track project progress, outputs, and outcomes.
- Prepare technical reports, progress updates, and documentation of best practices and lessons learned.
- Conduct evaluations to assess the impact of implemented climate adaptation and mitigation measures.
- Integrate climate-resilient materials and designs to ensure infrastructure withstands extreme weather events (e.g., flooding, heat waves).
- Promote sustainable construction practices, including the use of locally available and eco-friendly materials.
