Job Context:

∎ Project and Consortium: The Leadership to Ensure Adequate Nutrition (LEAN) project aims to improve maternal and child nutrition in the remote Chittagong Hill Tracts of Southeastern Bangladesh through a consortium of six partners led by United Purpose (UP). The project aims to break the perpetual cycle of undernutrition in 18 selected Upazilias under the Districts of Rangamati, Bandarban, and Khagrachari in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. The project funded by the European Commission (EC) will work to improve maternal and child nutrition for 282,000 pregnant and lactating women, children under 5 and adolescent girls by providing holistic, nutrition-sensitive and nutrition-specific livelihoods models to diversify diets and income for the most vulnerable whilst working with local, district and national government to promote nutrition-sensitive governance at all levels. The specific objective of the Project is "to create an enabling environment for improved and sustained pro-poor nutrition security service delivery and awareness will address the institutional determinants of undernutrition in the CHT which include the political and policy framework for nutrition, and the coordination and service delivery structures".
∎ The consortium of partners is led by United Purpose (UP) and consists of technical partners HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation (HELVETAS) and the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), as well as three implementing partners Caritas Bangladesh (CB), Integrated Development Foundation (IDF), and Jum Foundation (Jum).
∎ About the Role: Facilitation of market access and community mobilisation. Will engage and coordinate local private sector, MSMEs, small holders, producer groups and all relevant public sector institutions. The Facilitator will report to the Upazila Coordinator.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ The Market Access and Community Mobilization Facilitator will be responsible for the implementation of assigned activities at the community level under the overall guidance of the Project Manager and supervision of the Upazila Coordinator. The duties and responsibilities are as follows:
∎ Carry out field level activities to successfully implement the LEAN nutrition governance project
∎ Overall coordination at the community level to ensure smooth delivery of project activities in accordance with donor requirements and guidelines.
∎ Maintain coordination and communication in terms of project operation, assist the Upazila Coordinator to monitor project progress, quality and share learning.
∎ Ensure that the project follows relevant compliance, statutory rules and regulations, standards and IDF Policies.
∎ Carry out advocacy efforts representation both the project and organisation at community level events, workshops and conferences.
∎ Coordinate and implementassigned tasks in line with project goals and objectives
∎ Coordinate activities by maintaining strong relationship with Government, relevant departments, local government institutions, communities and stakeholders
∎ Organize and facilitate meeting, workshop, exposure visit, Cross learning events and community level events
∎ Coordinate with Upazila Coordinator and relevant partner officials
∎ Establish linkages between MSP and multi-purpose service hubs
∎ Engage communities in awareness-raising events
∎ Hold demonstrations for clubs engaging the private sector
∎ Hold demonstrations on diet diversification for clubs and community
∎ Support adolescent clubs to host awareness-raising events
∎ Facilitate community events hosted by WBCs
∎ Assist rapid local food/production/market assessment & identification of LSPs
∎ Assist in organizing of skills training for LSPs on nutrition sensitive agriculture, business development and finance for women's economic empowerment
∎ Match making between producers and input and output value chain actors, incl. financial service providers
∎ Facilitation of multi-stakeholder joint initiatives to establish collection and sale points in production zones
∎ Implementation of measures for market system and value chain improvement
∎ Assist in organizing training for SPAs and MSMEs on business planning and development and service provision for nutrition sensitive agriculture
∎ Assist in organizing of skills training to SPAs and MSMEs on farmer/agri-business advocacy, market requirements
∎ Assist in organizing peer learning visits between SPAs and MSMEs
∎ Prioritization of economically and socially viable WASH and DNI products and services for supply chain development
∎ Support in establishing of local production and sales centres and skills and business development support for local entrepreneurs
∎ Prepare reports and ensure timely submission to Upazila Coordinator
∎ Any additional tasks assigned by the Supervisor that may be within the scope of the position to ensure the effective delivery and development of the project

Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 3 to 4 years' work experience in reputed development organizations. Minimum 2 years' nutrition/health/livelihood project related experience with NGO/INGO desirable. Particular experience on market access & community mobilization would be an added advantage.
∎ Good command in Bangla and Minimum working knowledge in English
∎ Basic Computer skill
∎ Coordination, community engagement, mobilization and relationship building skills
∎ Networking, communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
∎ Report-writing skills
∎ Ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds
∎ Ability to work independently and in a team
∎ Organizing and facilitation skills
∎ Ability to travel and work in remote areas of CHT
∎ Supportive and committed to work for vulnerable groups, Values oriented and Gender sensitive
∎ Displays Sensitivity and adaptability on cultural diversity, gender, religion, race, nationality and age
∎ Good knowledge on diversity and sensitivity of CHT
∎ Able to drive Motor Cycle and have valid driving license or in process
∎ Working knowledge on any of the major CHT indigenous languages would be an added advantage
