Job Context:
∎ WAVE Foundation, a civil society organization implements diversified activities under 3 Major Domains- Sustainable Livelihood; Governance & Rights and Social Development & Climate Resilience (https://wavefoundationbd.org/). WAVE seeks application from interested individual or consultancy firm to facilitate 3 days training on Citizen journalism for the selected young people who will be identified by their interest, previous experiences to work as reporters to capture the stories. (https://www.norec.no/en/home/). WAVE implements this project in a collaborative partnership approach with Oxfam in Bangladesh. The objective of this initiative is to provide the knowledge, information and techniques to young people for building their capacity to act as citizen journalist
∎ About The Project: WAVE Foundation in partnership with Oxfam in Bangladesh a leading humanitarian organization, are implementing a 3 years project titled Strengthening Community Preparedness, Rapid Response and Recovery Programme in Asia focusing coastal, char and haor regions of Bangladesh on humanitarian and disaster risk reduction. The project aims to enhance the capacity of the communities, disaster management committees, government and local and national humanitarian actors on response, recovery and disaster preparedness. The aim of the project is to increase the capability of the youth to capture the stories on disaster response, the action of the disaster response committee in an effective way and make the committee more accountable to follow the criteria based on humanitarian standard. So that their roles can be sustained after the project period and learning can be shared widely. The capacity development training/workshops will be focused on citizen journalism. Citizen journalism, that is conducted by people who are not professional journalists but who disseminate information using web sites, blogs and social media. Citizen journalism has expanded its worldwide influence despite continuing concerns over whether citizen journalists are as reliable as trained professionals. Citizens in disaster zones have provided instant text and visual reporting from the scene.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Professionals will be closely guided and mentored by WAVE in different stages during carrying out the activities.
∎ Share a clear methodology for facilitating the training
∎ Design a youth inclusive and content specific session plan focusing on information, techniques, and demonstration. A module needs to be developed for conducting this training
∎ The facilitation should be communicative, interesting and understanding, experience based. Different types of practical examples /case stories will be used for demonstration. Participatory session needs to be developed. Provide training to 25-30 young people mostly from rural settings
∎ Provide the techniques to prepare content/write up for blogs, vlogs, Video clips, and editing used for website and social media.
∎ Expected Deliverables:
∎ A detail work plan mentioning tasks and timeline
∎ A well explained session plan
∎ Soft and hard copies of module for conducting the training
∎ Facilitation of 3 days training sessions
∎ Guideline on reporting ethics, maintaining and creating sources, balancing voices etc.
∎ Training completion report with photographs and example of reports/blogs covered by the participants

Additional Requirements:
∎ The consultant/ firm should have more than 5 years of experience in providing training for reporters and journalists on citizen journalism. Sound understanding and clear concept on citizen journalism and its application Knowledge on citizen journalism. Sound understanding on evolving multimedia gadgets and apps used for digital reporting i.e. video editing, videography, google map/geo tagging etc. Preference would be given to those who have experienced in providing training and facilitation of the session on citizen journalism. Having experience in working with young people. Good facilitation skill is required. Both individual consultant/pool of individuals or firm can apply for this assignment.

∎ Interested individual consultant or a firm must submit technical and financial proposal based on the terms of reference above clearly marked “Facilitation of training on Citizen Journalism for Youth”.
∎ Previous track record on citizen journalism
∎ Expression of interest
∎ Technical and Financial proposal with clear timeline
∎ CVs of involved personnel in case of a Consultancy firm
∎ Financial proposal should include clear and task wise split budget
∎ Provide name and contact details of at least 2 referees who can vouch for the consultant’s work
∎ Tax Identification number
∎ Timetable:
∎ The consultant should include a timetable of activities (Technical Section) by date. The consultant is expected to begin the assignment immediately after agreement signing and accomplished by 20 days. The total assignment would be for 20 days after confirmation.
