∎ The Integrated Development Foundation (IDF) is implementing a project titled ‘Facilitate access to crop-based finance to enhance vegetable production by 2,500 farmers in Cox’s Bazar and Bandarban District’ financed by USAID/Chemonics International Inc. The goal of the project is to strengthen the vegetable sector and increase cash flow in Cox’s Bazar and Bandarban district by facilitating capacity building training on production and technology, linkage-building workshops, exposure visit etc. to the low-income population of the target area.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ The extension officers will engage the vegetable farmers. They will organize training programs and meetings with the farmers. Each Extension Officer will work with 500 farmers, and thus five extension officers will engage 2500 vegetable farmers in the project. The duties and responsibilities of the Extension Officers are as follows:
∎ • Conducting training for capacity building on vegetable production using modern technology, postharvest, GAP and traceability.
∎ • Arranging a linkage building workshop with vegetable farmers, arotdars, and retailers.
∎ • Advising farmers to adopt the best farming practices.
∎ • Arranging exposure visit for lead farmers.
∎ • Managing 500 farmers and monitoring their farming activity.
∎ • Leading stakeholder meetings and dialogue with project communities and farmers.
∎ • Providing agriculture extension service support to target beneficiaries.
∎ • Supporting the target beneficiaries through market linkage.
∎ • Preparing field-visit reports.
∎ • Coordinating and communicating with other stakeholders in the project’s implementation.
∎ • Communicating with farmers and introducing new information and technology of farming.
∎ • Selecting group of farmers and engaging farming information and technology with them/ Selecting a group of farmers and involving them in farming information and technology.
∎ • Organizing meeting and other project related program and ensuring their participation.
∎ • Performing other related duties as assigned by the production manager.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at most 35 years
∎ Both males and females are allowed to apply
∎ • At least 3 years of experience in Agriculture project from any reputed organization.
∎ - Male and Female both are allowed to apply.
∎ - Extensive experience in agriculture projects.
∎ - Management experience would be a plus point.
∎ - Excellent ability to make decisions in stressful environments
∎ - Required to have excellent communication skills (written and verbal) in English & Bangla.
∎ - Understanding and speaking the local language of the project area is an advantage.
