Experience:
Education:Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, social sciences, natural resource management, development studies, or a related field.
Familiarity with environmental and social laws and regulations.
Basic working knowledge of the World Bank Environmental and Social Framework (ESF) is required.
Experience working with local communities and stakeholders is an asset.
Ability to work and travel to project sites as required.
Good understanding of environmental and social safeguards
Strong coordination and communication skills
Report writing and documentation skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Practical, solution-oriented approach to compliance
Experience:
Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in environmental and/or social management, preferably on donor-funded or government projects.
Computer Literacy: Proficiency in computer skills (MS word, excel, power point, virtual communication (zoom, teams etc.) and others.

VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Applications are invited from eligible Bangladeshi nationals for the following positions at the BIMSTEC Secretariat in Dhaka, Bangladesh:
Environmental and Social Officer:
Expected date for entry on duty: 01 June 2026
Type of Appointment:
Contractual for 06 months (with possibility of extension).
The selected candidate will be on mandatory probation for a period of 03 months from the date of joining.
The selected candidate is expected to serve the Secretariat for a minimum period of 06 months, subject to satisfactory performance and continuation of the project.
Duty Station: Dhaka, Bangladesh
Key Responsibility:
Support implementation and monitoring of environmental and social instruments, including Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs), Labor Management Procedures (SEPs), Labor Management Procedures (LMPs), Grievance Redress Mechanisms (GRMs), and Environmental and Social Commitment Plans (ESCPs).
Monitor contractors’ and service providers’ compliance with environmental, social, labor, and community health and safety requirements.
Conduct regular project sites visits and prepare monitoring reports.
Support stakeholder engagement activities, including consultations, information disclosure, and grievance management.
Assist in identifying environmental and social risks, incidents, and non-compliance issues, and support corrective actions.
Maintain project records related to environmental and social compliance.
Support preparation of periodic environmental and social progress reports for submission to project management.
Coordinate with local authorities, communities, and relevant institutions on environmental and social matters.
Participate in training and capacity-building activities related to environmental and social risk management.
Remunerations: Consolidated amount of USD 810 monthly basis will be paid.
