∎ GIZ has been working as a development partner of Bangladesh since 1972 under bilateral agreement. Currently, we are working in the areas of renewable energy, adaptation to climate change, textile and leather sector, biodiversity, as well as good governance, displacement, and migration.
∎ For the team of our "Energizing Development, EnDev", we seek applications for the position of "Energy Advisor".
∎ Contract Duration: December 2024
Job Responsibilities:
∎ A. Responsibilities:
∎ The position holder is responsible for:
∎ Managing an area of responsibility that forms part of the programme objectives, team agreements and /or agreements with the superior
∎ Assisting project/programme initiatives to provide professional advisory services to and cooperate with a broad range of target groups
∎ Advise supervisor on all task when implementing GIZ rules and regulation
∎ Advise supervisor in the field of project's planning, steering and monitoring
∎ Independently implement goals and requirements set by the line manager
∎ Make decisions which have a short-term effect within a limited project area/ unit
∎ Assist supervisor to identify day to day problem and suggest appropriate solution
∎ In this context, the position holder fulfils the following tasks:
∎ B. Tasks (Specific for Job Role):
∎ Supervise the development and implementation of project plans and activities, especially on clean cooking related components and productive uses of solar energy, including preparation of work plans and required reports;
∎ Assist the EnDev Project Manager/Coordinator in supervising strategic alignment of programme activities for Market Development of the e-cooking, Improved Biomass Cookstoves (ICS) components and productive uses of solar energy;
∎ Prepare the budget for the different activity areas, key events and related documentation;
∎ Prepare business plan and cashflow analysis especially for productive uses of Solar energy;
∎ Monitor operational budget against funds availability for the program components e-cooking & ICS and productive uses of Solar energy;
∎ Planning and supervision of assigned GIZ instruments like Grant Agreements, local subsidies and consultancy contracts (national and international);
∎ Prepare and implement consultation processes with relevant partners in Bangladesh;
∎ Develop ideas and concepts for new activities in line with programme objectives, outputs and indicators;
∎ Identify needs for external support and advice; definition of terms of references, selection and supervision of contracted third parties including performance evaluation;
∎ Plan and prepare workshops, seminars, and other events on subjects that are related to the project's field of activities;
∎ Monitor project progress concerning the results, impacts and lessons learnt from the project; identification of bottlenecks and challenges; and provision of recommendations to the international EnDev manager;
∎ Coordinate with relevant government and non-governmental agencies to achieve programme objective;
∎ Support for maintaining the liaison between GIZ-EnDev and its stakeholders;
∎ Assist supervisor on all task when implementing GIZ rules and regulation.
∎ Coordinate and improve the information exchange between GIZ staff, contracted experts, implementation partners and further stakeholders to ensure right information flows to reach appropriate audiences.
∎ Ensure all knowledge products are updated, readily available and in right order.
∎ Co-moderate and document workshop outputs, meeting decisions, drafts and contributes to training materials, manuals guides, presentations and other written documents.
∎ Develop and implement knowledge management processes in the project, including document filing structures, reporting periods, etc. (EnDev).
∎ Exchange of expertise, both regional and global as well as internal as external on the topics of e-cooking, ICS and productive uses of Solar energy.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Professional experience:
∎ 5 years of professional experience working in decentralised renewable energy, clean cooking and/or solar energy.
∎ 3 years professional experience in an international organisation would be an advantage.
∎ Fair understanding of developing business plan and cashflow analysis especially in the context of decentralised renewable energy (ICS, Solar) would be an advantage.
∎ Other knowledge, additional competences:
∎ Outstanding verbal and written communication skills in English and Bangla, proficiency in German language will be an advantage.
∎ Excellent command of MS-Office and other web-based applications/software tools.
∎ Good working knowledge of modern telecommunication/IT systems
∎ Ability to work well under pressure and must be a strong team player
∎ Must have good interpersonal and communication skills
∎ Ability to work in an intercultural environment
