Job Responsibilities:
∎ The position holder is responsible for:
∎ Managing an area of responsibility that forms part of the programme objectives, team agreements and/or agreements with the superior
∎ Assisting project/programme initiatives to provide professional advisory services to and cooperate with a broad range of target groups
∎ Advise supervisor on all task when implementing GIZ rules and regulation
∎ Advise supervisor in the field of project's planning, steering, and monitoring
∎ Independently implement goals and requirements set by the line manager
∎ Make decisions which have a short-term effect within a limited project area/ unit
∎ Assist supervisor to identify day to day problem and suggest appropriate solution
∎ In this context, the position holder fulfils the following tasks:
∎ Tasks (Main Job Role):
∎ The position holder is responsible for:
∎ Supporting the project manager in coordination and implementation of the projects in line with GIZ rules and regulations
∎ Representing GIZ towards stakeholders and ensure that GIZ values and principles are upheld
∎ Providing professional and technical advice to the project and partners and establishing contacts as well as cooperating with important stakeholders
∎ Ensuring safeguarding the quality of process of office/ project
∎ Ensuring adequate knowledge management within the project and communicating progress and results to a broad target group
∎ Supporting the project manager with reporting and knowledge management
∎ Core scope of tasks:
∎ The position holder will be responsible for the following tasks:
∎ Implementation of Output 4 of the bilateral project Higher Education and Leadership Development for Sustainable Textiles in Bangladesh (HELD). This means to design, organize and conduct network events for higher education and vocational training stakeholders with the private sector on sustainability issues in the textile industry, particularly women's needs, to develop action recommendations.
∎ Knowledge management in monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of the project indicators including reporting in cooperation with the HELD team and the M&E advisor of GIZ's Textile Cluster.
∎ Support activities in the areas of higher education, technical and vocational education and training (TVET) and on-the-job training of the HELD project, whose overall objective is to strengthen the application-oriented competencies of young future leaders in the textile industry in sustainable corporate management.
∎ Working together with the HELD team towards the integration of social and ecological sustainability topics in curricula of textile universities, colleges, diploma institutes and further training providers, including capacity building through training of lecurers and teachers of the project partner insitiutions.
∎ Maintain close contact with national and international implementing partners and on policy level with the University Grants Commission (UGC), the Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB) and the Secondary and Higher Education Division (SHED) of the Ministry of Education.
∎ Conceptualize and support workshops and seminars related to the HELD intervention areas, fostering experience exchange with universities in Bangladesh, Germany and in the region on topics like sustainability curricula, teaching and learning tecniques and the digital transformation in education.
∎ Contribute towards synergies with interlinked bilateral, regional and private sector education projects implemented by GIZ, e.g. on a chair for sustainability and texile innovation, on scholarship programmes for underpriviledged students and on digital skills to succeed in the job market in Asia.
∎ Provide expertise and technical support for the conception and appraisal missions for future follow-up GIZ projects in the higher education and TVET area in Bangladesh.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in the field of higher education and/or TVET, preferably including 3 years with a focus on industry sustainability
∎ Previous work experience in international organization is an asset
∎ Knowledge of the structure of the Bangladeshi secondary and tertiary education system is essential, including government strategy policies and relevant stakeholders
∎ Experience in working with universities and/or public vocational training institutions and preferable knowledge on curricula development and certification/recognition processes
∎ Experience in facilitating teacher trainings on industrial sustainability and/or modern teaching methods/didactics is an asset
∎ Solid understanding of private texile/garment sector needs in sustainability and corporate social responsibility including labour market potentials and preferable experience in training collaboration with assosciations and other industry players
∎ Other knowledge, additional competences:
∎ Ability to work well under pressure and must be a strong team player
∎ Very good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
∎ Fluency in English is essential
∎ Knowledge of German Language is an asset
∎ Routined in the use of Microsoft Office tools like outlook, word, excel, ppt
∎ Excellent presentation skills
∎ Ability to work in an intercultural environment
