- Proven experience as a dishwasher or similar role; supervisory experience preferred.
- Knowledge of commercial dishwashing machines and cleaning chemicals.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
- Physical stamina (lifting, standing for long periods, working in hot environments).
- Understanding of health and safety regulations.
Responsibilities & Context:
The Dishwashing/Stewarding Supervisor oversees the dishwashing department to ensure all kitchen equipment, utensils, and tableware are cleaned, sanitized, and stored properly. This role is responsible for supervising dishwashing staff, maintaining hygiene standards, and supporting overall kitchen operations.
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of dishwashing staff.
- Train new dishwashers on cleaning procedures, safety standards, and equipment use.
- Create staff schedules and assign tasks based on workload.
- Monitor performance and provide feedback or corrective actions when necessary.
- Ensure all dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, pans, and equipment are properly cleaned and sanitized.
- Maintain cleanliness of dishwashing area, including floors, walls, sinks, and machines.
- Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations (HACCP, local health codes).
- Oversee proper use and maintenance of dishwashing machines.
- Monitor stock levels of detergents, sanitizers, and cleaning supplies.
- Request or order needed supplies to avoid shortages.
- Ensure proper storage and organization of cleaned items.
