Responsibilities & Context:

The Deputy Project Manager (DPM) will support coordination and implementation of BRAC’s UNHCR-funded Legal Assistance Programme in Cox’s Bazar and Bhasan Char, ensuring effective legal services, protection monitoring, and community awareness, while maintaining strong coordination with UNHCR, government authorities, and partners.

  • Support the Project Manager in planning, implementing, and monitoring legal assistance activities in Cox’s Bazar and Bhasan Char.

  • Ensure timely delivery of project activities in line with UNHCR standards and BRAC guidelines.

  • Monitor progress against work plans, targets, and indicators to ensure programme effectiveness.

  • Ensure quality service delivery for legal aid, counselling, and legal awareness programmes.

  • Act as focal point for protection monitoring and supervise Protection Monitoring Focal Points.

  • Ensure systematic data collection, regular reporting, and coordination on protection risks and incidents.

  • Oversee legal case management, ensuring proper documentation, confidentiality, and follow-up.

  • Supervise referrals and support legal awareness and community outreach, including creative initiatives like legal literacy sessions and mobile clinics.

  • Provide supervision, guidance, and technical support to Legal Officers, Legal Assistants, and Protection Monitoring staff.

  • Facilitate staff training, capacity building, and monitor team performance against project standards.

  • Maintain coordination with UNHCR, CiC offices, government authorities, and humanitarian partners, representing BRAC when required.

  • Prepare and submit timely project reports, protection monitoring updates, and case management documentation.

  • Contribute to donor reporting, programme evaluations, and project reviews.

  • Ensure programme implementation aligns with UNHCR protection principles, humanitarian standards, and BRAC policies.

  • Promote accountability, uphold confidentiality, and handle sensitive protection and legal cases ethically.

  • Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme`s goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.

  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.

  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
