  • Master’s in Science (MSc) with Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from a recognised university/institution.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the poultry and livestock sector.

Job Purpose

The Deputy Manager will strengthen the poultry and livestock part of the Ultra-Poor Graduation Programme by providing technical support, capacity building of field staff, and managing with key stakeholders. This role also involves improving livestock productivity, reduce losses, and increase income for ultra-poor households.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop strategies for poultry and livestock by capturing field-level learnings and aligning them with programme goals.

  • Provide technical support to field teams to improve livestock performance and sustainability.

  • Conduct field visits to monitor progress, identify challenges, and provide guidance to ensure effective implementation and timely outcomes.

  • Design and facilitate capacity development initiatives by identifying training needs, developing training modules and guidelines, and conducting training sessions fo key stakeholders.

  • Build and maintain partnerships with internal teams and external stakeholders (e.g., government agencies, research institutions, NGOs, private sector actors) to enhance access to resources and services for programme participants.

  • Generate and share field-based insights by participating in relevant meetings, forums, and workshops, while analysing enterprise data to identify livestock performance gaps and recommend technical interventions that support programme strategy and sector innovation.

SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme`s goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.

  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.

  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
