Responsibilities & Context:

BRAC is an international development organisation founded in Bangladesh that partners with over 100 million people living with inequality and poverty globally to create sustainable opportunities to realise potential. Working at BRAC is not like any other job. It is a platform where you can bring about real change for people who need it the most. We are not just dreaming of a better world, we are building it. Join us to find the way.

Advancing Youth Employability through One-Month Apprenticeship-Based Retail Training is a 12-month BRAC SDP pilot designed to train 2,000 disadvantaged urban youth aged 18–30 for employment in Bangladesh's growing retail sector. Building on evidence from the PRIDE project, the initiative replaces lengthy classroom-based training with a one-month workplace-intensive model comprising a two-day boot camp followed by one month of supervised apprenticeship in partner retail outlets. The project will prioritize women and PWDs, target at least 30% female participation, establish 30+ employer partnerships, and aim to place at least 75% of graduates within three months. The pilot will also develop a standardized apprenticeship toolkit and employer cost-sharing mechanism to enable replication and scale across Bangladesh.

Deputy Manager, Operations will be responsible for driving BRAC Skills Development Programme’s nationwide employer engagement and partnership strategy in the retail and related sectors to create sustainable pathways from skills training to employment. Additionally, this role will oversee nationwide implementation through District Managers, ensure achievement of enrolment, training, partnership, and placement targets, and strengthen project quality, operational efficiency, compliance, and reporting to maximize employment outcomes and industry impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a nationwide partnership strategy with retail brands, employers, and industry associations to position BRAC Skills Development Programme as a preferred talent and skilling partner.

  • Develop and secure employer partnerships, including MOUs, apprenticeships, and employment placement opportunities at national and regional levels.

  • Build strong senior-level relationships with retail brands, HR leaders, talent acquisition teams, and franchise operators to expand job opportunities.

  • Supervise and manage District Managers nationwide, ensuring quality implementation, employer engagement, and achievement of project targets.

  • Set and monitor project-wide targets for learner enrolment, training, partnerships, and job placements, taking corrective action where required.

  • Monitor retail market trends and employer needs to identify new growth opportunities and strengthen project strategy.

  • Ensure effective project operations, reporting, MIS, compliance, and documentation, including budgets, logistics, agreements, and monitoring activities.

  • Represent BRAC Skills Development Programme at industry forums and employer events, while maintaining partner relationships, resolving escalated issues, and ensuring operational and service standards across all districts.

Safeguarding Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.

  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.

  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
