Educational Requirements:
∎ Literacy essential, course on cooking desirable.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Carry out the preparation of meals for staff
∎ Follow at all times all hygiene standards and security rules.
∎ Control stock of food so as to ask for anything needed on time, and prepare shopping list and make purchases if required.
∎ Ensure meals are served on time.
∎ If applicable set table before every meal and clean it up after each meal.
∎ Ensure cleanliness of all facilities, utensils and equipment.
∎ If domestic cook, ensure the provision of drinkable water during the day and when she / he leaves: cleaning, filling the filter and empty bottles, changing batteries if necessary.
∎ Look after all equipment provided.
∎ Keep an inventory of MSF kitchen utensils and equipment, i.e. plates, glasses, cutlery, cookware, etc., and ensure its integrity.
∎ Ensure meals are prepared in appropriate time and quantity
∎ Dishwashing regularly
∎ Report losses, spoilages, and breakages to supervisor
∎ Managing the kitchen food store and keeping weekly food orders or extra food orders when necessary
∎ Responsible for reception of food deliveries to the kitchen food store and checking of expiry dates
∎ Weekly keep the kitchen record with possible shortages of basic items for the weekend (e.g. sugar, salt, etc.) and restock them
∎ Planning weekly shopping of grocery for the required assigned premises (domestic/office)
∎ Keep record of accounts of expenses after shopping by ensuring that payment is accurate and checking the correctness of the receipts;
∎ Responsible for requesting, receiving, and closing cash advances for purchasing food on a daily basis.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Previous experience desirable
∎ Local language and Mission language desirable
Salary:
∎ Salary according to level 2 of the internal MSF salary grid, (29243- 35092 Gross) at step ‘0-10’. 2 annual leave days per month worked. Medical reimbursement for employee and direct dependents.
