Job Context:
∎ Democracy International (DI) is seeking to hire a Component Manager to support the USAID funded Ain Shohayota Activity. The goal of the Activity is to promote people-centered justice through increased public participation, inclusivity, and data-driven approaches to strengthen the justice system.
∎ The position will be based in Dhaka, and is likely to require moderate travel within Bangladesh. The ideal candidate will be a qualified lawyer, have well established relationships with justice sector actors and policy makers, knowledge of research methods, and experience supporting vulnerable and marginalized groups realize their rights.
∎ While the Component Manager may be asked to take on tasks to support the Activity generally, the primary responsibility will be supporting Component 3: Build and Utilize an Evidence-Base to Strengthen Justice Services. Under this component, the main tasks are to 1) strengthen coalitions building to promote evidence-based advocacy among marginalized and vulnerable groups (such as women, ethnic or religious minorities, people with disabilities, the LGBTIQ+ community) and 2) use the evidence base to inform training and advocacy with justice sector actors. Responsibilities will include supporting coalitions to develop an evidence-base through research studies and organizing trainings to build the capacity of justice sector actors to meet the needs of vulnerable and marginalized groups. S/he will supervise a Program Officer. This will be a full-time position based in Dhaka, and this position is only open to Bangladesh citizens.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ This position reports to the Chief of Party.
∎ Responsible for the day-to-day management of Component 3.
∎ Work with the Senior Management Team to develop activities to meet the component objectives, including drafting the component's section of the workplan. Oversee the implementation of the activities to ensure quality standards are met and recommend suggestions for improvement.
∎ Supervise the Program Officer to ensure they are conducting their assigned tasks on a timely basis, particularly providing beneficiary counts to the MEL team and storing activity details in Sharepoint.
∎ Build and mentor coalitions of vulnerable and marginalized groups to develop an evidence-base through which to advocate for realizing their legal rights through a means conducive to support from policy makers.
∎ Identify gaps in policy and practice in ensuring the rights of vulnerable and marginalized groups and provide tools for advocacy with the policy makers.
∎ Organize trainings/workshops with justice sector actors to promote a people-center approach to justice sector reform, including developing the agenda and identifying/arranging expert trainers. Persons with experience leading trainings related to legal aid and reducing case backlogs are preferred.
∎ Develop and maintain strong relationships with judicial officers and policy makers working at the national level and in the Activity's focus districts.
∎ Prepare the Component's contribution to reports, including the weekly report, bi-weekly snapshot, and quarterly and annual reports.
∎ Support other team members undertaking activities at the local level.
∎ Provide necessary support and collaboration with relevant departments, including Finance, Operations, Procurement, and MEL
∎ Identify potential issues, risks and challenges that may impact to delivery of activities/results and develop timely follow-up actions to mitigate them.
∎ Provide necessary support to research and assessments conducted by the Activity.
∎ Synthesize lessons learned from field operations and share them with senior management team to promote Collaborating, Learning and Adapting (CLA) approach in current and future programming.
∎ Engage in regular coordination meetings with the Senior Management team and other Component Managers.
∎ Other similar responsibilities DI might reasonably request.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at least 18 years
∎ At least 8 years of experience working to strengthen legal aid and access to justice in Bangladesh.
∎ Deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by women and other vulnerable groups in Bangladesh when accessing justice.
∎ Experience developing an evidence-base to inform a reform agenda/policy advocacy.
∎ Experience designing and conducting training, workshop and seminar.
∎ Experience working with government partners to promote change.
∎ Proven record working effectively with GoB and judiciary partners.
∎ Strong commitment to a people-center justice approach to judicial strengthening.
∎ Highly organized and able to prioritize multiple tasks.
∎ Very comfortable with Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, Bangla composing skills, internet navigation, etc.).
∎ Flexible. Ability to adjust responsibilities and duties as the project grows.
∎ Ability to multi-task with strong commitment to meeting deadlines.
∎ Proven integrity and thorough attention to details are inherent to this position.
∎ Strong organizational skills, rigorous attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities needed to perform effectively in a demanding position.
∎ Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team to achieve complex results under strict deadlines.
∎ Demonstrated commitment to ethics, transparency, and accountability in program implementation.
∎ Excellent spoken and written English and Bangla.
