We are a world leader in making markets work for the poor as well as the longest established market development specialist NGO in Bangladesh. iDE believes that markets can be a powerful force for improving smallholder prosperity by creating income and livelihood opportunities for poor rural households. iDE Bangladesh currently has eight projects in Agricultural Markets, Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and Access to Finance with a focus on women`s economic empowerment and climate-smart technologies.
∎ Promotion of Integrating Sanitation Marketing (PSM-II) project is an integrated marketing approach to improve the public health situation to increasing access of sanitation and hygiene facilities among the host community people in 8 Upazila (Cox`s Bazar sadar, Ramu, Ukhiya, Teknaf, Chakaria, Pekua, Moheshkhali and Kutubdia) under Cox`s Bazar District. The overall goal of the project is to reach 250,000 people, particularly vulnerable children, adolescent girls, women and their families in 8 project unions (300 communities) who benefit from affordable hygiene facilities and practice improved hygiene and sanitation behaviors and more equitable utilization of quality, well maintained, clean sanitation and hygiene facilities and services, resulting in better health conditions and wellbeing.
∎ iDE Bangladesh is looking for skilled Community Organizers to conduct awareness sessions on Hygiene and improved sanitation practices. This position will be also responsible for community level household data collection and visit in order to identify the possible participants for the Hygiene Promotion sessions. S/ he will also do the necessary linkage with union Watson Committees & Ward Watson Committees, local sanitation and hygiene entrepreneurs as well as facilitate the community level group formation process, awareness & demand creation.

∎ Contract duration: Up to January 2023 with a possibility of extension
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
∎ The key responsibilities of the Community Organizer will include the following:
∎ Key Roles and Responsibilities:
∎ Implement hygiene promotion, community engagement & behavioral change activities in the host community as per Results by Reward (RbR) frameworks
∎ at the Union level;
∎ Each community organizer will reach 210 households per quarter (105 households per community), raising awareness about hygiene issues as well as ensuring improved sanitation use and hygiene promotional activities (e.g. community sessions, HHs visit, HHs follow up) through daily field visits;
∎ Collect 210 household's information per COs from the selected area in Cox's Bazar district by using project survey checklist/tools in each quarter;
∎ Community organizers will be responsible for identifying Sanitation and Hygiene related most vulnerable wards/communities from project selected unions and will conduct Community Situation Analysis (CSA) with the help of Ward Watson Committee before community level group formation;
∎ Monitor the hygiene condition of the hygiene group and arrange sessions at the community level as required under the supervision of the Hygiene officer (HO);
∎ Support HO and Upazila WASH officers to identify union level potential school selection and actively participate in WASH in School activities;
∎ Lead sustainable community engagement through improving knowledge and changing the attitudes, practices & behavior of the targeted communities;
∎ Under the guidance of the HO, develop a weekly/monthly activity action plan, and implement the same as per the plan;
∎ Collect demographic data as per guidance and prepare monthly report and share with HO;
∎ Conduct periodic surveys as per requirement of the project;
∎ Link communities with local latrine producers when communities are interested to purchase an improved latrine;
∎ Bi-weekly, monthly visits to the hub office to enhance capacity development and report submission.
Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 2-year(s) experience in community mobilization/ community approach activities; experience of working in WASH and hygiene promotion will get preference
∎ Ability to work under pressure and limited supervision
∎ Maximum age limit 40 years;
∎ Good communication and facilitation skill
∎ Ability to speak Cox's Bazar local language
∎ Inhabitants of concern program areas will get preference
∎ Understanding of local context will add value
∎ Pre conditions:
∎ Prepared to undertake frequent field visits and extensive travel by using local transport
∎ She/He has to follow iDE rules and regulations,
∎ Will have to be permanently based in the working area during employment period
Salary:
∎ BDT 14, 500/ month (consolidated)
