Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience in organizing community campaigns, workshops, and advocacy events.
  • Strong skills in documentation, data collection, and reporting.
  • Sound knowledge of the socio-cultural context of rural Bangladesh and the issue of child marriage.
  • Excellent communication skills in Bangla (mandatory), fluency in local language and English (desirable).
  • Strong interpersonal and networking skills to build effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Willingness to travel frequently and stay in field locations when required.


Responsibilities & Context:

About JJS: Jagrata Juba Shangha (JJS), having 41 years of experience working as a rights-based environmental and social development organization actively dealing with pro-poor issues, supporting individuals with special needs, and disaster-vulnerable people in the South West coastal region of Bangladesh. JJS has been working diligently to improve the lives of vulnerable people in coastal communities through its interventions on (i) Governance and Human Rights, (ii) Urban Poverty and Resilience (iii) Environment and Food Sovereignty (iv) Climate Change and Disaster Management and (v) Child Protection and Youth Engagement.

Responsibilities & Context

The Community Organizer will play a key role in implementing the SHOMBHABONA Project at the upazila level. Responsibilities include carrying out project activities, maintaining effective communication with Gender Promoters of the Department of Women Affairs (DWA), Organizing groups, facilitating sessions, make necessary arrangements for session communication and reporting. The Organizer will also support the District Facilitator in ensuring smooth execution of advocacy initiatives, campaigns, and community events.

Field level duties include data collection, organizing community events, facilitating group education and dialogues, ensuring quality documentation, and maintaining liaison with youth groups and government agencies to drive sustainable impact. The role requires frequent travel across districts and upazilas.

Job Summary

Location of Posting: Bagerhat Sadar and Morrelganj Upazila of Bagerhat District

Duration: July-December 2026

Reporting Line and Accountability

Community Organizers will report directly to the District Facilitator, who in turn will report to the Project Coordinator/Focal at ActionAid Bangladesh. Organizers are responsible for maintaining accurate records of participants, sessions, and follow-up activities. Coordination and meetings will be conducted through online and offline platforms, including district-level and central groups, allowing Organizers to share learnings and challenges. Looking ahead, there is potential to organize monthly coordination meetings to further strengthen quality, planning, and collaboration across districts.

Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to)

  • Contribute to district and upazila-level implementation of awareness campaigns and initiatives aimed at shifting harmful social norms.
  • Maintain regular communication and coordination with youth ambassadors, Gender Promoters, and other government and non-government stakeholders at grassroot level
  • Organize sessions and ensure the quality and consistency of value deliberation sessions delivered in communities.
  • Coordinate value deliberation sessions with reference groups, male household members of VWB and Jibikayon participants.
  • Work with the District Facilitator to strengthen collaboration with local CSOs, youth groups, and other organizations for effective grassroots mobilization.
  • Provide logistical and technical support in training activities, including cascading sessions under the Norm-Shift Accelerator model.
  • Support in organizing district-level media engagement initiatives to amplify advocacy messages.
  • Conduct regular field visits to engage with project participants, provide implementation support, branding and visibility and ensure adherence to project standards.
  • Assist in collecting and documenting case stories, success stories, best practices, challenges, and lessons learned.
  • Manage and update participant databases, ensuring timely submission of documentation as per project requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor in alignment with project objectives.

Candidates must comply with:

Sexual exploitation and abuse are serious misconduct and grounds for disciplinary measures, including summary dismissal. Sexual activity with children (persons under the age of 18) is prohibited, regardless of the age of majority or local age of consent. Mistaken belief in the age of the child is not a defense.

Violation of the organization’s policies or indulgence in any conduct that is inappropriate, unsatisfactory or unacceptable to the management, may subject the Employee to strict disciplinary action, which may include, but not be limited to, warning, demotion, re-assignment, discharge and the termination of services.

Background and reference checks will be conducted and ethics is part of annual performance appraisals.



Job Other Benifits:
    Monthly gross salary BDT 15000/-. Other benefits will be provided as per project budget following organizational guidelines. The payment will be made via bank transfer. Payment Modality: Last week of each month. Work Conditions: Weekend - Friday Leave Entitlements: 18 General Leave days per year, 12 Medical Leave days per year
