Experience:
Bachelor degree in any discipline
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in DRR and CCA in flood-prone areas is preferred.
• Working experience with people with disabilities will be an added value.
• Experience in working with community groups
• Experience in working with Local Government
• Able to mobilize the community and facilitate meetings
• Experience working on livelihood initiatives
• Experience in impact story writing, community-level liaison, networking, and advocacy.
• Strong Bangla report writing skills, English report writing skills will be added value
• Willingness and commitment to work closely with the local community, including people with disabilities.
• Swimming skills are desired.
• Good understanding of people with disabilities, gender, and social inclusion-related issues.
• Strong computer skills, including MS Office (Word-Bangla and English, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Willing to frequently visit Char-land.
• Able to take initiative, self-motivated/independently
• Work under pressure and in times of disaster/flood.
• Valid Driving License, able to ride a motorcycle in a rural environment.
*** Job Responsibilities:
• Formation and strengthening Self-Help Groups (SHGs) of persons with disabilities.
• Facilitate regular monthly meetings of SHGs to promote peer support and collective action.
• Mobilize flood- and climate-vulnerable communities in Jatrapur Union, Kurigram Sadar, ensuring inclusive participation of persons with disabilities.
• Build the capacity of SHGs and other community-based groups through training and mentoring.
• Organize and conduct regular meetings of Disaster Management Committees and other need-based groups at ward and union levels.
• Support and facilitate orientations, workshops, and training sessions for stakeholders and project participants.
• Conduct regular field visits aligning with the project work plan.
• Ensure timely and quality implementation of project activities at the community level.
• Provide supervision and support for livelihood initiatives and follow-up on assistive devices and inclusive livelihood support, including maintaining the iCFRM register.
• Prepare and submit field event reports, including documentation of activities and outcomes.
• Write impact stories and case studies highlighting the experiences and progress of project participants.
• Organize and facilitate community-level awareness programs and advocacy events.
• Observe and celebrate disability- and disaster-related days to promote inclusion and resilience.
• Maintain effective liaison with local administration, government departments, and non-governmental organizations.
• Collaborate closely with the Rehabilitation and Advocacy Officer to support rehabilitation efforts.
• Engage in community-level networking and advocacy to promote disability inclusion.
Safeguarding Responsibilities:
• Adhere to CDD's Children and Adults at Risk Safeguarding policy, ensuring the safety and well-being of all project participants.
• Promote a safe and secure environment for all participants and stakeholders of the project.
• Report any safeguarding concerns promptly and follow the designated reporting procedures.
Additional Responsibilities:
• Perform any other responsibility/ special duty delegated by project and CDD management.

The Centre for Disability in Development (CDD) is a not for profit organization established in 1996 to develop a more inclusive society for persons with disabilities. CDD simultaneously builds technical capacities of the development stakeholders and the communities in how to be more inclusive whilst also enabling persons with a disability to participate in society by strengthening their leadership and providing them with essential rehabilitation and other supports.
CDD is one of the most renowned organizations in the field of disability-inclusive development. CDD’s work in Bangladesh is supported by international and national donor agencies/development partners. CDD offers an inclusive, amicable, and respectable work environment.
The Ramon Magsaysay Award (Asian version of the Noble prize) has been awarded to its Executive Director in 2010. In 2018, CDD was recognized by the Government of Bangladesh as one of the best organizations working on disability and development issues.
CDD is accepting application for the position of ‘Community Engagement Officer’ under a project named ‘Anticipate, Include, Act: Strengthening Community Resilience in Kurigram’ to be implemented with the support of CBM International. The duration of the project is till 30th June 2027. The selected candidate will initially be hired for a three-month probationary period. Upon successful completion of this period, his/her employment contract will be renewed on an annual basis.
