Job Context:
∎ The Danish Refugee Council (DRC), one of the world`s leading NGOs, with a focus on responding to displacement, have been registered in Bangladesh since 2013. In 2017, in response to the Rohingya influx, DRC launched an integrated program of support to the government in site management, shelter/NFI and protection. In 2018, DRC started implementing aid projects in support of the host communities most affected by the influx of refugees. As a key part of this, DRC opened a main office in Cox`s Bazar, and a support/liaison office in Dhaka.
∎ POSITION PROFILE-The Community-Based Protection Officer is a member of the General Protection Unit for the DRC Cox`s Bazar operation and reports to the Protection Team Leader - Community Based Protection. The CBP officer is the main point of contact for interacting and liaising with community groups. His/her prime responsibilities will be to form community groups, conduct sessions and raise awareness on protection risks following the guidance and curriculum established by the TL, build the capacities of community groups to identify and respond to protection risks and support with protection monitoring and protection mainstreaming. He or she will plan and conduct protection monitoring visits in camp and host community areas, as well as contribute to the production of protection monitoring reports on identified protection trends and risks. Furthermore, the position is expected to contribute to other DRC protection activities in the Rohingya refugee camps and host communities in Cox`s Bazar.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Mobilize and build strong rapport with Rohingya and host communities through consistent engagement with Community Protection Groups and adhering to dignified, culturally sensitive approaches.
∎ Support Community Protection Groups by facilitating meaningful group dialogue and mentoring participants to self-identify protection concerns that affect their communities.
∎ Building capacity of Community Protection Groups to prioritize protection concerns and explore coping mechanisms and practical mitigation strategies.
∎ Work closely with Community Protection Groups to facilitate the development and implementation of Community Action Plans (CAP).
∎ Include the participation of beneficiaries and communities, particularly those most vulnerable or at-risk, with attention to gender and diversity, in all stages of the Community Action Plan (CAP) project cycle.
∎ Under the supervision of the Team leader, carry out effective protection monitoring activities (FGD, KII, Direct Observation Checklists) with efficiency and according to developed work plan.
∎ Monitor and share trends for analysis of the protection situation and environment.
∎ Contribute to the regular development protection monitoring products, including weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual highlights/ad hoc reports.
∎ Participating in rapid protection assessments, joint assessments, protection analysis etc. to identify protection concerns and needs and act for response.
∎ Working in close coordination with the team members to ensure protection activities are in line with overall projects and targets for protection activities are met.
∎ Reporting on incidents and issues of concern.
∎ Prepare daily and weekly reports of activities to be compiled for donor reporting, process procurement requests.
∎ Work closely with DRC protection teams (GBV, Child Protection and General Protection and Host Community units) and other DRC programs.
∎ Uphold DRC's international code of conduct.
∎ Any other tasks as may be assigned from time to time.

Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 2 years of experience in refugee/displacement programs, with a focus on protection work.
∎ Strong capacity to document, summarize and analyze protection data and to share information in a clear and systematic manner.
∎ Superior communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal, and active listening capabilities, with diverse groups of people.
∎ Ability to work in a multicultural context as a flexible and respectful team player.
∎ Problem solving, analytical and writing skills, with the ability to produce reports for internal and external use.
∎ Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
∎ LANGUAGES :
∎ English (Fluent).
∎ Bangla (Fluent).
∎ Chittagonian and Rohingya dialect (Preferable).
