Responsibilities & Context:

*** Job Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with the global resource hub team at Sense International for seamless upload and publication of accessible documents that have been identified by a consultant through a scoping exercise

  • Research and gather information, resources, and materials on deafblindness from various sources.

  • Convert documents, reports, and other materials into accessible digital formats as well as other accessible formats (Braille, large print, audio) for the deafblind community.

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders to ensure the accuracy and relevance of content.

  • Review, edit, and proofread documents to meet clarity, consistency, and accessibility standards (WCAG international standard).

  • Maintain a well-organized and up-to-date database of accessible documents and resources.

  • Provide technical support and training to staff and partners on creating accessible materials and using assistive technologies.

  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of accessible documents on the target audience.

  • Stay updated on advancements in accessibility technologies, standards, and best practices.

  • Support with logistics of local level user testing and feedback on Global Resource Hub. 

  • Communication and Outreach: Develop and implement a communication strategy to promote the CDD website and resource hub across various platforms (social media, press releases, etc.).

  • Manage and maintain social media channels (Facebook, Messenger, Twitter, LinkedIn) to engage with stakeholders and the deafblind community.

  • Document and share lessons learned, best practices, and project outcomes through online and offline channels.

  • Design promotional materials (e-newsletters, reports, banners, leaflets, and posters) to raise awareness about deafblindness resources.

  • Generate reports and press releases for training sessions, workshops, and events related to deafblindness.

  • Coordinate with the IT and Communication Department for seamless communication activities.

  • Assist in drafting opinion pieces for newspapers and policy briefs related to deafblindness.

  • Support the project team in developing reports and stories highlighting project activities.

  • Ensure compliance with branding guidelines for all communication materials.

  • Fulfill any additional communication duties assigned by the project management team.

  • Any other task assign by supervisor/CDD authority.

  • The Centre for Disability in Development (CDD) is a not for profit organization established in 1996 to develop a more inclusive society for persons with disabilities. CDD simultaneously builds technical capacities of the development stakeholders and the communities in how to be more inclusive whilst also enabling persons with a disability to participate in society by strengthening their leadership and providing them with essential rehabilitation and other supports. 

  • CDD is one of the most renowned organizations in the field of disability-inclusive development. CDD’s work in Bangladesh is supported by international and national donor agencies/development partners. In 2018, CDD was recognized by the Government of Bangladesh as one of the best organizations working on disability and development issues.

  • CDD is accepting application for the position of ‘Communication Officer (Managing Global Resource Hub on Deafblindness, Bangladesh Part)’ under the project named ‘All Together in Education: Breaking Barriers for Children with Deafblindness (Phase II)’. The duration of the project is till July-2026. 

  • Communications Officer (Managing Global Resource Hub, Bangladesh part) will work as a staff of Deafblind project to promote and transfer knowledge through approachable interpersonal skills with effective organizational competency. He/ She will be looking to use information gathered by a consultant who has conducted a scoping/research and  document/ research any additional resources at the national level in Bangladesh in English/Bangla to understand what is available using information gathered and how the organization can put/ published/ signpost to this information on the Global Resource Hub.  The aim is that the Global Resource Hub will be the go-to place for people with deafblindness/ MSI to access news, stories, information etc and for those that support them to do the same accessing information in English and Bangla.

  • We have a vision of people with deafblindness being able to access information (whether books, news etc) the same way as people without disabilities and for the hub to be a trusted source of collated information easily available to them in different languages (English and Bangla).
